I was in Portsmouth Friday afternoon in Sextons, they have been doing to investigations into the audio system for me.
Raggyman, you're right. The system is bespoke to the Monaro and is very new technology, especially the VXR. They have been warned to to touch the system at all - it uses a lot of single wire technology (something about multiple signals with unique signatures controlling sperate functions down the same wire). (Could explain the single pin for the extra cd changer comm ss V8)?
Anyway, I guess I'll just have to get an RF converter for my iPod & tune the radio to it!
Thanks for the help guys and, for the record, I think I'll keep my window wound up, it's perishing out there this morning!!

Sorry for being dumb... but how does that work? Is there a site I can have a look at? Where can I get one?

Thanks in advance,
Richard.

I have one of those... not worth the hassle, but if anyone wants it let me know.

The Gadget hainser is referring to is the iTrip and iTrip Mini. There are others but none quite so pretty.

It works by turning your iPod or iPod Mini into an FM Radio Transmitter. You then tune your car radio (or any other radio) to the predefined frequency and listen to your sweet tunes. The transmission range of the unit is limited to just a few metres but it's enough to work in a car. There are mods that allow greater range but this voids the warranty.

Because it uses radio frequencies that have to be licenced they are technically illegal in the UK.
