I haven't done the sums, but I suspect that by the time you legally imported one into the U.K the savings over a used Monaro would not make it viable.
Don't want to put a damper on things, but I looked into importing a VT from Aus. in 2000. The car was loads cheaper in Aus. but in the end I couldn't get a worthwhile saving with a D.I.Y import, over buying one from HSV (U.K).
I suspect that you'd end up with a LHD car for little saving over a RHD car.
Different story maybe with used cars, but there have been some cheap 4 dr HSV's around recently!

Well I am giving it some thought really... would definitely be alot of fun. Even thought about a route over here. Would be good to have a left hand drive car especially cause most of my travel now would be in Europe. Wonder what price a vy (2003-4) V8 would go for new, or are they just all vx's? Be happy with that anyhow, love my vx.

Some websites would be awesome. Definitely would be keen to do a convoy..... especially through egypt and through to morroco and up through spain. Could be alot of fun.
