Total Vauxhall test VXR8 vs Lotus Carlton

I personally hate 0-60 and 0-100 tests.
The first part is so reliant on the drivers ability and lack of mechanical sympathy that it makes any meaningful comparison really difficult.

10-60 and 10-100 provide very accurate times for most cars and can be done over and over again by different people.

I wouldn't call it endangered - more unsuported by either Lotus or Vauxhall but for the activities of the ABS and it's members a hell of a lot more cars would have been lost.

They did have a load of timimg gear there because they were testing some seriously quick Novas as well, but the LC isn't great at standing starts and, as Ian said, no-one really wants to knacker their clutch since new ones are a bit tricky to source. And given that lovely runway, top speed was of more interest. You can run a 0-60 test anywhere.

Agreed and the only way to get those 5 sec times is by being less than sympathetic

I was alway impressed by Si's GTS but I can see exactly what you mean - the LC is very impressive in the middle gears
