Finally had an excuse to use the w4nker lights
Discussion
Hi all,
Some random pictures taken in the early mist today - strangely relaxing to drive through early in the morning. Crucially this allowed me to take a picture of the car with the front fogs on without looking like a w4nker (possibly).
As an aside I parked outside a pub this evening to find a nearby cab driver having a fit of excitement over the car, "phwoooor, v8, that's boss!". Easy to just treat it as a car sometimes and forget how mental these things are

My front fogs are on all the time (at night obviously), is it wrish? I just think it looks better would have to be much foggier before engaging the rear one though!
Yes it is wrish! You blind people coming in the opposite direction and its ILLEGAL!Hence "fog light", to be used in fog or heavy rain!

It's best not to mention that on any of the more popular forums on here, or the PH massive will be out in force.Your front fogs are designed to help you see, but also to be seen in poor conditions. That's why they're often higher intensity but smaller than other lights in the main cluster. This piercing quality is great for cutting through fog, but also makes them horrible for oncoming traffic in clear conditions.

Should only use fogs in less than 100m visibility.

anyone noticed that fog lamps don't look any brighter than dipped headlamps?
This is totally dependent on the car - some cars have evil foglights. Puntos spring to mind (not the very latest shape, the one before that).some cars have spotlamps, which are not as bright as headlamps.
i don't see a problem with people using a second set of lights if they are not going to dazzle other drivers.
Sexy pics. Thanx. I would'nt use fogs unless foggy but i do drive with my side lights on all the time. On the 56 CV8's they are seperate from the head lights but not too bright and look really pretty. Had them on all day at Santa Pod. I know that air con affects 0-60 times and wonder if side lights would? Anyone.

Thanks

As for lights, well the energy to run the lights has to come from somewhere, and the source of all the vehicle's energy is its fuel. Additional electrical items will increase the load on the engine via the alternator but I wouldn't expect the load to really affect the vehicle's performance. It should be _very_ slightly slower whenever any energy is sapped away to do something other than propel the vehicle.

Blokes can be blond too! I managed to get into the car in the fire-up road at the strip, fasten my belt, put on my helmet ; then realised the bonnet was up
I would have loved to have seen that. Brilliant. I can do better than though. I got into my car, put my seat belt on, started the engine then realised i'd left my two month old son in the car seat on the roof of the car. An old lady came running at me swinging her handbag screaming STOP. Stupid woman

Er, yeah, guilty of that too! It was a little better for me tho as I was in my VX220 at the time, so at least the bonnet was behind me. I should have left it propped up for extra down-force.
