Time to put my baby to bed for the evening, with the new car cover smile

P.S. How do you look after yours?

Similar approach, but I normally use fleece blankets rather than a fitted car cover to keep any dust off.

I would like to have a double garage where I would be able to work on the car, but for now the single garage keeps it sheltered.

In the air, warm, dry and on charge. Driven briefly occaisionally if weather plays ball over winter.

I did think that when I saw it, hence getting my post in early.

Other than not having a road bike (but 3 x MTB), and the window being in a different place, they are quite similar.

Extra carpet added since taking that photo and tidied slightly. My wife says I care too much for that car...

BCA - is that a Strongman Tools Clifton Scissor Lift? I'm thinking of getting one, so if it is, is it any good? I was a bit concerned that the ground clearance may be an issue getting on to it, but might even consider setting it into the floor if it is really good.

I just open doors regularly to let out the damp air and use some very warm water and a clean cloth to wipe off accumulations of dust. I think if I used a dust cover as well as trying to get it off the drive without scraping the front I'd never use it smile

this being the first winter that i have had the Sag (or any other car that needs to be put away for the winter), i have been browsing forums and asking detailers (professional and otherwise) what is the best method for storing the car over the winter.

they all seem to be of the opinion that a car cover is a bad idea if the car is being sheltered i.e. in a garage. .

the gist of the arguement seems to be that a cover is more likely to damage the paint upon removal than the dust will by simply falling lightly on the car. it also allows for better air flow within the vehicle which reduces things like mold and staleness. as the car is under cover it doesn't need a cover, however, you must wash it after a long period of imobility before use.

i'm not looking to offend, but hoping to inspire debate or at least get some more insight before i tuck my own pride and joy away.

I use a cover over winter in the garage, but I clean and polish before I put the cover on so no problems with damage to paintwork, also the cover is breathable so again no problems with moisture. Also note I leave the windows down to let air circulate. Paintwork is still like new. Always good to know when it comes out of hibernation it's clean and dust free.

I just use 2 single bedsheets and leave the windows down a little. Works for me as the car gets used on nice sunny winter weekends.

I've got a soft breathable indoor cover (never used) and an outdoor cover if the garage is needed for other things or cars.

I agree it's probably not necessary to cover a car thats in a garage unless it's going away for months untouched but that depends on the garage, my garage is painted walls and plastered/painted ceiling and not much else so no dust or things that could fall on the car, however some garages are more like barns/sheds with bare walls, open beams, inner roof on show and lots of other crap like bikes and stored items, far more chance of dust and dirt contaminating the bodywork.

I never let my cars sit for more than 2-3 weeks at a time though so I'll not bother with the indoor cover.

I just use the car all year , only take it out in winter if the roads are dry and salt free . The longest time its spent unused in my 3+ years is about 3 weeks .
After about two weeks i start getting withdrawal symptoms .

Also consider the benefits of a cover, in terms of brushing past the car, with a belt on, keys etc. If like many of us mere mortals you only have single garages, this is why it's an additional benefit as you will be touching the car as you pass by. Furthermore, there are other things in the garage, bikes etc, tools.. it's additional peace of mind smile

For many of you covers are a great idea, since you only do a couple of K a year :P Cackle!
