You started all this crap on here, no one else. What you should have admitted to everyone and me when you sent me the email is that you work for TVR Dean and now have my car. What your email said was;

What it should have said was;

I work for TVR Dean and we have now bought your car. I know you have a dispute with your insurance company but we would be interested in obtaining the history of the car if you are prepared to sell it.

What you have done on here is confirmed to many users of this forum what you are all about, dishonest, talk crap and are trying to sell a car that has been classified as Cat B as Cat C. My arguement was never with your employers but the insurance company. Now leave this post for me to update all those who are genuinely interested in how the car has managed to changed Category since it was collected from me, which I'll do as soon as I have a response next week.

Thats if I dont decide to have to car held pending the outcome!!!!

Quick update

Received a call from the insuarnce company this morning and they are being very helpful and working with me on my complaint. They can not give me any definate answers until next week as the engineer is away until then so will update later as to why the classification has been changed.

Interesting point to note, as a Cat B the salvage value of the car to the insurance company was £5K and as a Cat C the value to them was £8K.

I advised them that had I been informed the car was Cat C I would have bought the car from them, and apparently the car remains my property until agreed. However they did comment that they do not advise that clints buy back salvage cars!!!

Hi all

I've received two emails this week from the insurance company, but dont want to post details yet as this could go to court and I dont want to say anything that might cause any issues and also because of PH Name & Shame rules. So until I've got to a stage where I either get a satifactory response or commence with proceedings I do not want to say too much.

The main point that has come out of this is that their response to me was full of contradicting statements from their original correspondence which is the area that I am now discussing with them.

I will decide next week if I am going to commence legal proceedings against them and will update soon. I will also let you know the companies involved both broker and insurance company and how they both give you different information, especially about the policy I had at the time of the crash

Hmmm, some interesting comments....

To clear things up, I am considering my position for two reasons;

1) I settled as I was told the car was Cat B, what else could I do?? Had I been toild the car was Cat C then this would have given me the option of buying the car off the insurance company, remembe that the car belongs to the policy holder, not the insurance company.

2) The value they paid me has been based on contradicting statements from the insurance company. They firstly offered me X in settlement to which I disputed as I had a guarnateed value Y on the car when I renewed in December. They then agreed this and paid me Y, however they have since said that they paid me based on the market value, however the market value is greater than Y so this now also forms part of my complaint with them.

This dispute is due to the insurance companies advice to me I made a decision that would not have been the decision I would have made had I known the car was Cat C. Trying to find a replacement car of the same condition and mileage is not going to be easy.

Sorry for lack of information

I'm away at present, but received an email yesterday from the insurers offering me a further settlement on the vehicle but they have yet to respond to my concerns over the change of category which is my main issue.

It appears my next step is to complain to the insurance body to complain. They seem to think it was acceptable to re-catagorise the car after my settlement.

So a bit of an update....

I've received a further payout from the insurance company, however this apprears to be because they originally said my settlement was based on my agreed insurance value, then in subsequent correspondence they said I didnt have a guranteed value. So when I asked if my claim was paid on market value they said yes, so then claimed that there market value was not where the market value is!!!! Bingo, another payment.

However the issue of the change in classification has not changed and if I want to pursue I have to claim to Lloyds, the insurance HQ!!! Havent decided if I will go that way yet as been away a lot recently but will review when I get home next week. But pursuing aint going to get my car back and I certainly wouldnt want it back now after being with the salvage yard for months.... not sure how many parts would have been removed / lost since they received it

Not much more to advise, they feel they didnt have to advise me of the change in classification, i feel differently.

Car seems to have now disappeared from classifieds so not sure if has been sold or not.

Insurance company confirmed that the car was sold as a Cat B and they were paid as Cat B, I think the issue is more to do with the insurance assessor maybe being friendly with the breakers.... but not sure. As I stated they have never actually seen the car until after it was collected from me and delivered to the salvage yard and I'd been paid out.

WOW how times flies, just stumbled across this thread so had a good re read and thought I'd update.

The car is back on the road again. I received an email a couple of years ago from the guy who had bought it and re built it, sent me lots of pics and wow the car looks amazing.......I miss it again now!!!!

I wont post the pics on here as its not for me to do so, but he has done an excellent job and it looks amazing.....
