Fully understand the PH policy to protect the innocent.

I've been a TVR owner for many years and only had the one bad experience with any company associated with TVR's. That one is still ongoing with our wonderful legal system (in parallel with a second case with another PH'er who has also lost out), but if you find a bad company don't hesitate to tell the verifiable facts to warn others, that way you stay within the rules.

Al, if you do close the thread - please don't delete it, just lock it.

I think more people should be aware of how these cowboys operate.

I'd agree, I've never had a TVR or looked to buy one but I somehow know TVRDean is as dodgy as fook and to steer well clear!

If D1ckie has asked for the argument to be moved fair enough.

If the other side then where is the policy on that?

This can't be 'Name and Shame' can it? The silly sod named, and has certainly shamed, himself.

it would be a shame to delete the thread as there is only one person whos causing problems think it would be better for pistonheads to speak direct to that person and sort out the way they conduct themselves on the forums!!!!!just my opinion.

hi richard sounds like they are struggling to sell the car without the history!!!!! shame they could not be more honest from the start and say who they were or that they are involved with tvr dean or are actually tvr dean anyway hope you get things sorted with the insurance company still would not surprise me if tvr dean have been told to hold fire on selling car till things get sorted good luck with everything also if it were me being spoken to like that i would not sell them the history or what bits of history you have for any amount of money!!!! what an idiot!!! anyway all the best richard keep us posted.
Is there any need for calling someone a cock for having an opinion???

You started all this crap on here, no one else. What you should have admitted to everyone and me when you sent me the email is that you work for TVR Dean and now have my car. What your email said was;

hello richard , i now own your old sag and wonder if you still have the service book and any hist you would like to sell ,??

What it should have said was;

I work for TVR Dean and we have now bought your car. I know you have a dispute with your insurance company but we would be interested in obtaining the history of the car if you are prepared to sell it.

What you have done on here is confirmed to many users of this forum what you are all about, dishonest, talk crap and are trying to sell a car that has been classified as Cat B as Cat C. My arguement was never with your employers but the insurance company. Now leave this post for me to update all those who are genuinely interested in how the car has managed to changed Category since it was collected from me, which I'll do as soon as I have a response next week.

Thats if I dont decide to have to car held pending the outcome!!!!

To everyone else, thanks for your support smile

surely, given that there seems to be an issue surrounding this vehicle, PH ought to at least delete the advertisement listing...

Quick update

Received a call from the insuarnce company this morning and they are being very helpful and working with me on my complaint. They can not give me any definate answers until next week as the engineer is away until then so will update later as to why the classification has been changed.

Interesting point to note, as a Cat B the salvage value of the car to the insurance company was £5K and as a Cat C the value to them was £8K.

I advised them that had I been informed the car was Cat C I would have bought the car from them, and apparently the car remains my property until agreed. However they did comment that they do not advise that clints buy back salvage cars!!!

Hope it all works out for you the way you would like.

If the car does return to you, ensure that all the ECU's are in still in place and have correct chassis ID marked on them, as they are known to disappear or be swapped for faulty ones.

I just wanted to express my apreciation for the fact that you've taken the time and energy to share all of this with us. We now all know what this car company is like... The irony is that pretty much all Sags and T cars are sold via Pistonheads, and thanks to this thread, I doubt anyone will deal with them again. At the very least, I doubt anyone will buy your old car from them.
I know second hand car dealers have a certain reputation, and salvage dealers are at the lower end of that scale, but the outbursts from that guy are quite astonishing! So much for building the brand and customer care! With so few of these cars about, a garage's name is everything, and these muppets seem to be going out of their way to harm themselves!!

Anyway, I will follow with interest.
Finally, good luck with it all.

I've read the thread and firstly, it's awful to see the pictures of such a beautiful car damaged like that, I feel genuinely gutter for the OP.

I was involved in a total loss claim on my stunning Griffith many moons ago and whether it was available back to me fully repaired or as salvage, I just wouldn't have wanted the car back. It's soiled goods after being so badly damaged and even if it could be repaired, the scar on the cars history could never be removed. It just would never feel the same. If the insurance company paid out its agreed value in full, then what they do with it later is down to them as once a settlement has been agreed and paid out, you no longer have a claim on it. Whether they mislead you by offering a reduced value, delaying payment, or by implying the repairs are more or less expensive, is par for the course when dealing with insurance companies. People always say 'don't accept their first offer' why, surely not because they are always fair and honourable.... Is it not better to just take the money and move on?

As for the comments on here from our diplomatic scrap dealer, whilst we damage our cars, there will be a place for companies like TVR Dean whether we like it or not. The potential is huge for somebody to work with the TVR community to recycle damaged TVR parts in a professional manner. They seam to want the support of the community, hence the TVRCC Sprint feature on there Tamora/Sagaris creation, and there is certainly a good living to be made there, however it's just such a shame that they fail to see how much better they could do with some better PR and a professional approach.

Wow 8k for the car as a cat C thats a bargain if it was me and i had agreed a settlement from the insurance company and they valued it at 8k for me to buy it back i would have snapped there hands off!!!! hope you get things sorted richard its a shame tvr dean got there hands on it because if they are told to return the car you can bet they wont return it in the same state as they collected it going by there attitude this said cant see how they will get 22.5k for the car that is just stupid in my opinion anyway hope you get everything sorted richard good luck with it and keep us posted.Also they may advise clients not to buy back salvage cars but that doesn't mean you can't also how come as a private individual you can register with a salvage site/auction and buy cat C and D cars no problem however you can't buy cat B cars only dismantlers with correct paperwork can buy these so they are disposed of correctly!!

I would be interested to know the insurance company ? So I could avoid using them smile .

As it stands , I can see 3000 reasons to change it from a Cat B to a Cat C .
