I'd settle for being able to top up the oil without inviting Nadia Comaneci round or knocking myself unconscious. I've come to think I might be asking too much... Thank you!

With pip pins sounds like a complete solution.

The idea of opening wider to gain access is good, but what about a set of quick release hinges to allow total removal of bonnet, has anyone tried this approach?
They already exist. It is a 2 person job to remove the bonnet safely, but it is very quick. TrackVRoad did these for me.

Although I've concussed myself so many times on the bonnet I've forgotten what we're talking about biggrin

Hi All,

sorry for the delay on this but it's now finally moving on!

I've done some CAD drawings and they are with an engineering company for prototyping at the moment.

They will be CNC cut from mild steel and plated (or maybe stainless steel depending on desire and price)

We have looked into incorporating a quick release function as well but a useable QR system greatly increases the price and given the angle the bonnet will now open to, it doesn't seem necessary or worthwhile.

The system will use the exiting bonnet mountings, and the original hinge stud, but will require two holes drilling into the fibreglass on each side forward of the old hinge. They won't be visible from outside if you ever remove the hinge.

The engineers won't be drawn on price until the first unit is finished (which I will trial) but I am currently estimating the pricing will be around 250 pound mark, but I will update this as the details come together.

For now, to help me get a handle on the order, can those of you interested please place your name in the list below?

Thanks,
Chris

Price estimate is eye opener.

I won't put my name down just yet as I'd like to know the price first. Surely the cost of plating mild steel is more than the extra cost of doing it in stainless steel?

Once the price is confirmed I'll let you know. I'm not being tight, I might need three sets!

Chris, if you're right about the 250 Pound mark, then I'll have to decline. This doesn't reflect its worth even if it was made from stainless steel. Plus you have to irreversibly alter the original bonnet. Given the fact that I'll lust more after a quick release, than wide opening bonnet this makes it even less intriguing.
Sorry for the harsh words, but so is reality.
Thank you anyway for all your efforts. I really appreciate what you're doing for the community.

Chris,

Sorry, but..............as above and I would only want a single set!
