I cant help thinking that you may be jumping the gun, the TDI club is very elite and they dont let any w####r join it takes years of driving up peoples arses everytime you go down a hill and staying in the outside lane doing fifty when you go back up it.
I know iv'e been doing it for years in the Transit and OBI still doesn't consider me a member!

flash, just caught up with all the posts after AOL probs abroad and am gobsmacked you even came close to leaving the fold, I can't imagine TVR's most vociferous promoter driving anything else, glad you found a compromise.......your driving seems well adapted to TDI driving IMO, just don't try and chase any sportsbikes....he he

Yes, I had been looking at the 4Life myself. I think the Nissan Nivara may qualify, and probably the Toyota HiLux double cab. It is possible to get a new 4Life for about £15000 after the VAT refund, which is a lot of motor for the money. Come in handy for dropping Speed Six engines off at Blackpool as well.

I'd forgotten bikes, but you are dead right, bikes are pretty tax efficient company transport as well.

Toyota Hilux Double-Cab load rating 1005 kg so does meet it!

Glad I kept it. Did a track day at Donnington Park GP circuit yesterday and the car was fantastic. The grip and handling were even better than I anticipated and I murdered a guy in a heavily modified Griff. He was so taken aback that he demanded a go in the car and was stunned when I took him out. PaulC from the porsche forum was also there in his Carrera RS and he was also mightily impressed by the Tamora, but not as impressed as Benno and me were by Paul's unbelievable driving ability when we had a go in his RS. I take my hat off Paul, you are some driver mate.....

No way am I selling now, I'm going on more track days!!

Andy, did you keep the 18's on, or swap for the 16's?

Met and had a good chat at the last TVR meet...I had the Grif 500. Perhaps it is time you tried one of my other motors, the "hit with an ugly stick" C5? Seriously Toffer, it goes like the clappers..that 2.2TDi has as much torque as your old 4l Grif!!

No. Not at all. I was amazed how good it was, as was everyone else. The brakes were superb and apart from a spin early on when I went into Goddards too quickly I had a fabulous day. The Tamora that was in Evo must have been very badly set up.

I had the 18"s on and they were fine. Nubbin, get yerself to Donnington on Sat the 17th August. £150 open pitlane again....

yeah but all i took was a D Reg Pug 205 and the Griff just couldnt catch me up over about 9 laps of Donnington GP. Come to think of it nor could the NSX, he ended up spinning after pushing a bit hard to reduce his embarrasment after 6 laps of loosing ground to a GTI!!

You failed to mention that your pug is a stripped out racing car with a Group N rally spec 230bhp race prepared engine and you were on slicks!!!

However, having driven your 205 and followed it for a lap, it's superb value and as quick through the bends as anything else out there, especially on slicks. The only thing I had on you was straight line speed...where my car was as quick as the RS Carrera.

Just need Porsche brakes (which were considerably better)and some more driving ability now!!!

Flasher, I'll be there on the 17th. Can you pay on the day, or book in advance? i'm on holiday from the end of this week, so if I need to book, let me know.

Andrew, Lance, Nick Hatch, how about joining us?

Nubbin,

you need to look in the "track days" section on this site and book in advance as it's £30 extra if you just show up on the day. Hope to see you there....

or its the evo interactive day on the 19th of August

where all of their track days of the year will be out and 3 sessions of 30 cars per session!

might be fun, was great at the weekend with no cars but would also be good with a few more cars to overtake

Don't crash.

Dunno Nubbin, I'm one too, let me know how you get on - I must take my slower TVR to a track soon.

Smile if you see a Muppet with a Nikon round his neck, wishing he'd booked for the Trackday, I'll have my helmet in the boot though
I reserve the right to stay at home if it's raining
