Says who Kevin? They both probably weigh the same and the 4.5 Cerbera does not put out anywhere near the 420bhp it is advertised to have. 360 if you are lucky.

Errr not quite. Modern Porkers are much heavier than TVR for obvious reasons.

From Porsche web site: 1540kg with manual gear box / 1585kg with tiptronic.
1100kg for the Cerbie.

Power to weight ratios:
Cerbie: ca. 320bhp/ton (calculated with a realistic 350+bhp, not the disputed factory figures)
Porker: ca. 270bhp/ton.

If the 911 is faster in a straight line then I am missing something

Edited to add power/weight to ratio figures.

only things you're missing are that the cerbie has to be a very good one to make 350bhp, danny l-t's made that but it's the exception, most are 330 and a couple have been as low as 310bhp. also the porsche has a massive traction advantage, probably better gear ratios and more torque. oh and cerbies are closer to 1350kg than 1100
would still have the cerbie though

The only 'evidence' I have seen is the Clarkson video. I know there is some debate over whether the Cerb was standard or not, however, on that day the TVR was significantly faster in a straight line than the 993TT 1.5 seconds over the mile, approx 5% difference in times. I have never seen a TT beat a Cerb in a straight line. So IMHO the Cerb is faster.
Not that it matters much, they are both incredibly fast and I would like one of each please (993, not 996, and 4.5 not S6)

my ass is a cerb 1100kg's....evo stuck a 'lightweight' 4.5 on some scales and it was more like 1400kgs.

Besides porsche has both way more torque and a 6 speed gearbox to keep the engine spinning

I drove one a while back and it felt effortlessly fast, and given even a boggo 996c2 can do the ton in 10 sec dead (autocar) I have a strange suspicion that the Turbo with half as much power again would be faster than a Cerb....shame Lee dd not go to Duxford this year!!

I had my Tamora weighed at work and it came out as 1110kg with ca 30litres(30kg)Optimax in it. That is to say ca. 1080kg kerb weight empty.
My engine is going off a bit now(stalling misfiring much noise and will be returned to Blackpool next month for this plus other warranty work) but as it was still okay I tried it out against a colleagues Z3 M Roadster(325bhp and 1350kg without driver but fully tanked he tells me), here in Germany. From ca. 30mph-120mph his car was quite a bit slower. I guess from this unscientific test that the Tamora at least does have a little bit more than 300bhp but not not 350. I also have been lucky enough to experience a couple of Porsches recently-my neighbour has a 964 with 3.8litre 300bhp minimum that revs to nearly 8000rpm and weighs empty ca. 1150kg. It `feels´ as fast as the Tamora and is almost as loud.

I will have to put this to bed once and for all, Duxford next year it is....(Dazren, are you up for this too??)Having driven all the modern TVR's and owned a Cerbera SS, The TT is a far quicker car
If you have any doubts then go and test drive one and see for yourselves? Trust me you will be amazed....
I'm not saying a Porsche is better than a TVR for everyone, but for me it certainly is.

If there is no clash on dates I'll be up for it. When is it.?

Any other Porker drivers gonna gatecrash this traditionally TVRfest?

DAZ

PS - It doesn't matter to me, but some of the Tiv boys clearly can't sleep at night knowing someone may have a quicker car!!
