100,000 miles - finally!
Discussion
After 18 years and two weeks I've finally gone passed 100,000 miles in my Tamora! It's been a blast and I can still remember the day it was delivered back in late January 2002, as one of the first two customer Tamoras to leave the factory on the same day.
In all this time it's been my only car (my wif'e's got the family car!). In the early years I was driving it every day to the office by latterly I work from home a lot so it only gets used twice a week. I still love every journey I do.
It hasn't all been smiles, the two engine rebuilds and new chassis weren't fun, but once the car's returned the smiles come straight back!
I still get paranoid sitting in traffic when the water temps get to 100C! Although in 18 years it's only overheated once when the fans failed. I also hate driving in the rain as twice the wipers have overlapped and stopped working!
Anyway, I'm sure there are Tamoras out there that have done more mileage, this is just my experience. I've kept the blog up-to-date on PH if anyone's interested.
Cheers all....

Cheers all. To answer the questions...
First rebuild was after 30,000 miles and because the engine was only running on five cylinders. Rebuild was done using "4-litre cams" and car then recorded 375bhp on the rolling-road. Second rebuild was around 60,000 miles due to part of the catalytic converter being sucked into the engine! Both rebuilds done at TVR Power and both paid for.
Yes, as it's my only car it's been used all year round in all weather. I've had some interesting journeys in the snow especially when the rear tyres were due to be changed! The car's not that difficult to drive in bad conditions, it's the other idiots on the road that make things difficult. As I mentioned earlier my main worry is the wipers failing in the rain!
When the car was new it went back-and-fore to the factory quite a bit so it has all/most of the early mods fitted, eg. seat-belt recoil system, heat insulation around gear-stick, etc. It also came with 16" alloys (no option of 18" originally) so I upgraded to 18" shortly afterwards. The TVR Power sports exhaust is probably the best mod I've bought. I haven't been impressed with the HID headlights or Nitron shocks.
I can't remember the last time I saw another Tamora on the roads, come to think of it I haven't seen many TVRs at all in recent years. I hope you're all still having fun in yours.
Cheers....

How does a bit of the cat get sucked into the engine and why isn't that covered by Power's warranty?
High overlap of valves and an (abrupt) release of the throttle at higher RPMs -> Underpressure in the exhaust...if the cats were damaged before by excessive fuel / rich mixture it can suck in parts of the ceramic cat. Why should a warranty on the engine cover such failure ?
