Unfortunately due to the current lockdown I’ve not been able to progress this much.
After a lot of thought I’m not going to look at the one I originally mentioned, although I’m sure it’s a fantastic car I can’t get over the history.
Hopefully the Griffith will be for sale next week if all goes well. I was hoping to part exchange it against a T350 although I think I would be better with the money as P / X values don’t appear to be that great.
Currently the silver one as Str8six looks really nice although I’m not sure about the interior but that’s something that really needs to be seen. The Rolex Blue one is obviously the one to go for but it’s definitely creeping up the price range.
Hopefully once I have a hand full of money I will be asking lots more questions if you don’t mind.
Thanks for your help, best regards and keep safe, Doug

Hi Doug, If it's not right for you, it's not right for you.
Any luck with selling the Griff yet? There are some nice ones on PH right now, although I see the prices beginning to creeep up.
Good luck with the search, I will watch with interest.
All the best,
Peter

Thanks Paul.
As yet viewings on the Griff are proving difficult.
It will go as it’s genuinely a great car but it needs to be seen.
Originally I was maybe a bit naive thinking p / x prices may be higher. As soon as someone is enjoying the Griff I will hopefully be moving forward.
If it’s still okay and possible obviously depending on lockdown restrictions, I still wouldn’t mind a look around yours so I have more of an idea what I’m looking at before I commit to one if you don’t mind.
I will keep you posted but at the moment in the situation we are in It’s a bit of a waiting game.
Very best regards and keep safe. Doug

Hi, I also have a Griffith and took it to Spain for 3 years. Founds insurance ok but car has to be road legal so every year I drove it back for an MoT. Easier solution than re-registering a TVR in Spain which would have been a red taped nightmare.

I decided the Griffith was a keeper so made “the list” of improvements. This included : ACT induction, MBE, Taraka, Wilwood brakes, 7” lights, Leven wipers, new dash, new key fobs, Surrey roof. Only power steering and maybe heated seats left to go.

You could keep the Griff but upgrade some bits ? I drive roof down all the time unless it’s chucking it down. The Griff is the perfect GT. I even asked a hotel porter in Bellagio Italy to move an Enzo Ferrari so I could park - he just smiled !

Sounds like a great opportunity for a drive!
The car I was originally interested in lived in France for a while but was also serviced there.
I understand it’s now gone to Germany so obviously wasn’t an issue for the new buyer.
My timing for changing my car is not the best due to the current circumstances but at the time it looked like it was getting better.

Driving a Griff or any TVR from Spain to the UK and back every year would be a dream come true.

Very best regards

Hi Doug,
No problem at all, when things ease and the weather improves you're welcome to have a good look around. We can do social distancing here, as we live at the end of a cul-de-sac with a decent front garden. If only it would just stop raining for a while though!
I bought my T350 in July last year and I figure I've done about 300 miles since then - and 100 of those were collecting it! That said, I did nip it round the block at the weekend to warm everything through and turn all the moving parts. No revs above 2500 but it didn't disappoint. I'm soooo looking forward to my vaccine and the open road later this year. I'm in the next age group so hopefully not too long now.
Good luck with the Griff sale and drop me a pm when you're ready.

Regards Peter - not Paul. wink

Oh, go on then...

That is one lovely looking car.As you say with the vaccine and better weather on the way you can make up all the miles you have lost.
So sorry about the name change Peter, not sure how that happened.
When someone is enjoying the Griff I will PM you to try to make arrangements if that’s still ok.
Many thanks and keep safe. Doug

Hi All
I looked at and took the T350 for a test drive. Drove fine for the distance I went but I found the wind noise from the targa roof panels would get on my nerves after a while. Sure you could probably do something to make it better.
Purchased this in the end, cheaper, newer, lower mileage and a C. Moved to the T after 7 years with a chimaera.

You have ended up with a beautiful looking car.
I saw the advert with Mole Valley TVR. The interior Contrasts really well with the exterior colour.
Interesting regards to the cabin noise in the car I was originally interested in.
When the weather brightens up and when we can make journeys that are no longer only essential you have a lot of excellent driving to look forward to!! ( slightly jealous )
Very best regards and keep safe, Doug

In defence of the Targa I have to say I have a 2004 T350T with the improved attachment method for the roof panels and if fitted properly (which can take a time) they are completely noise free.

Run a bead of clear silicon around the rubber seal on the targa top before fitting. Basically you make your own perfect seal and - no noise! If you put petroleum jelly on the roof before fitting the targa, the silicon doesn't stick to the paint so you can get away with a few a few removals of the targa tops before having to peel off the silicon and do it again.

I must say, I rarely managed to get my Targa panels to stop whistling. I have had two T350Ts, one had the earlier set up and one with the later “cams” at the back of the panels. I actually found the earlier set up easier to set up and reduce wind noise, but it looked tragically homemade. At least the later set up looked a little more professional.

I found it critical to get the forward facing prongs at the correct height so they could engage far enough into the body, yet not be too loose. I experimented with spacers between the panels and the prongs until I got a good fit.

Afternoon
Hope all is well with everyone.
Just a quick update
The Griffith has now sold ( yesterday)
While it was away I had trouble looking at the space on the drive and took replaced it with a Lancia Fulvia HF Lusso as the attached pictures
It’s probably my very last chance to buy one whilst they are at a price I can afford so I made the leap
Thanks so much for all the help and advice. At the beginning I was definitely going for a T350 and if the Griffith had sold earlier would of got one but in the meantime the HF became available
Very best regards and keep safe everyone

Hahaha, a true volte-face indeed Doug! rofl Quite a difference but I guss you can alway revisit the T350 thing if the Lancia doesn't live up to expectations.
Nice looking car though and I hope you have a lot of fun with it.

All the best, PB

Many thanks.
My thinking was it’s probably the last chance for me to own one but as you say I can always get back into TVRs again.
Really appreciate your help and thoughts though.
Very best regards and happy driving as the lockdown eases and the weather brightens up.
