Wow!
eek
Central will do you a full retrim, carpet and a new hood for a smidge over £6k. The work I’ve seen from them has always been very good quality so not sure why you’d need to pay anyone 10k

7-10k for a retrim? well i guess quality of leather is a factor but that does seem high.

Not many Tamora were full leather. £5k for a retrim should be easy unless you want to bling it up with quilting everywhere.

Having owned this for 5 years, I can recommend a Tamora, I’m 6”4 and have no issues in driving the Tam. The peddle box has three sets of holes it can be moved forwards or backwards if required (not a quick job).

Interiors - I have a full new interior fitted by D&C Trim and new hood / targa for less than £4K.

Engines - unfortunately my car had needed 2 x factory rebuilds very early in its life (before I owned it). I then had it rebuilt again as it had failed soon after purchasing it, this rebuild failed (after 3k gentle miles) and was fixed under warranty. So I now have a 4L SP6. So if it has had a rebuild or not is kind of academic tbh. Unless it’s still under warranty then that’s the only thing that in my opinion would add value, but not be a deal breaker.

These cars are 20 years old so age related issues also add up.I would buy on condition and ideally with a warranty/engine warranty.

In the 5 years I’ve owned mine I’ve replaced.
Steering rack
Refurb diff
Nitron suspension added
New wheels
Suspension arms
Power exhaust
Full Respray
Full Interior
Starter motor
Larger brakes
The list is long....

Happy hunting

From first hand experience I can tell you I paid £5.5k over 3 years ago for a standard job from a non-TVR trimmer. Half grain leather, half alcantara, new carpets and £150 head unit, smooth leather (I forget it’s name) was another £500.

It was a 7/10 job, but was all I could afford at the time, when I collected it the first thing he said was the next Tamora will be at least £1k more.

Although the car is now sold, in hindsight I wish I’d taken it to a TVR specialist, off the top of my head I can think of four, two I would use, two I wouldn’t!

Obviously I’m not disputing this, but I find that quite amazing, less than £4K, wow!

My M was 7k from one of the most respected TVR trimmers. More leather and more complex than a Tamora. Bentley leather, pure wool carpet and Italian alcantara head lining. Seats built from nothing and very few useful templates in the old trim. Fabulous job.

It feels like it sometimes with all the running around I'm doing this year...

The cost was using full leather + wool + alcantara + not cheapest trimmer biggrin

Well, I'm back working and the Elise should be sold this weekend so if anyone knows of any for sale that isn't on here or other selling sites, I'd appreciate a heads-up.

Please tell me some more about this. Is there a TVR manual covering it or maybe the pedalbox manufacturer has one? Cheers

There are three holes under the pedal box, this can be lifted and moved forwards, it requires the box to be lifted and moved into the required slot. I had a TVR specialist do this fit me years ago now.

I moved mine myself- on the driveway; being short; I moved mine backwards!
  • * While you're under there; take a peek at the seat brackets; as they are sharp edged- the powder coating gets a battering and lifts in these locations. Its a good chance to clean the rust off and get some paint/protection onto the steel.

Interesting stuff, fetched a strong price at auction, i paid 28k for that one in March '05 (2k miles) and sold it in March '07, was rebuilt at 24k miles just before i traded it in for a Tuscan 2, overall a slow depreciation of approx 10k over a 15 year period from dealer to auction.

The advert would benefit from some more pics of the interior, chassis and engine, to the Op would say test drive one, they are a far more practical, comfortable and everyday car compared to the Elise and a good example can be bought for £25k privately or £30k from a dealer with a bullet proof in house warranty smile
Interesting to hear from another owner of my old Tamora. I owned from 41k to 42ish around 2015 and sold to the dealer who eventually sold on to the previous owner. The interior was starting to look shabby back then so it must be dreadful now. That said, it was bullet proof in my ownership but sounds like it needs some attention now. New interior and front end is probably adding 5k+ onto the price.
Happy to see it still in one piece, was originally half leather (mostly bison) on 16" spiders and rebuilt by Tvr Power so plenty of tunes in the old fiddle to come wink

The interior is simply shocking and could do with a make over, £5k should bring it back on track, whipper snappers of today about time they brought back national service biggrin
It's now mine and just been dropped off at a TVR specialist for a service and check over ! I'm just intrigued as to what all you previous owners were doing to get the drivers seat so suspiciously friction damaged !!! biggrin
