That's not great, sorry to hear.
Is there no binding commitment on that sort of platform ?

Insofar as the Buyer's Fee is non-refundable. But beyond that, what can you do?

Can you expand on the reasons why they are no longer purchasing the car?

I'm not sure how much I should or shouldn't say. So perhaps it is best to just say that the buyer appeared to enter into the purchase in good faith but finds themselves unable to fulfil their financial obligations at this time.

I thought it was a dealer? Sorry to hear it’s not gone to plan.

Sorry to hear that. Must be very frustrating. Have I read correctly that the same bidder won the other Sag on Collecting Cars as well? Wonder if that deal has gone through?

Yes. And, thanks.

One finally bites the bullet and sells it (whilst all your friends make comments like "blimey I never thought you would actually do it" and the like), and then this happens. frown

Yes, I believe so. But I do not know the outcome on that. One would assume not.

Maybe it was not meant to be, you can follow logic all day long with these cars but lateral thinking often wins out at the end of the day, your Sag is trying to tell you something ! smile

Arse. Will they have some form of censure on the site?

That's the issue with CC and other sites such as Trade Classics. They get their fee up front, they have no actual ownership or even possession of the cars. frown

I posted last night and then deleted my post because Cupcake seemed to give the dealer the benefit of the doubt.

IMO, the dealer will have told Counting Cars, he didn't buy the car because of some fault with Cupcake's XYZ, so he will have not paid, or will have been refunded the Buyer's Fee. In addition if you buy regularly from auctions as a dealer, you do get a discount on the fees you paid.

Then I am guessing that because of the time difference between the auction ending and the dealer telling Cupcake he could not proceed, the dealer has spent this trying to flip the car to one of his customers/TVR trade buyer for a quick profit. So in effect he's using auction sites as free stocking of the vehicle (although not physical), and has had 20 odd days to try and sell it.

But I don't know the full story and maybe I am being too cynical? I don't like auction sites like this, as I think they are actually driving prices down.

No consolation to you, but you are not alone in having problems with a buyer on CC.

Good business model if CC can sell the same car (and pocket the fee) several times!

My Tuscan went via SOR with Amore, might be worth a chat with Mark, nice guy to do business with IME. Fixed fee to so you're not losing a big slug of margin to a trade buyer.

sorry to hear of your problems CC very frustrating and annoying but buying and or selling can be all those things if parties aren't playing fair and sometimes genuine problems do arise.

As has been mentioned above perhaps one of the specialists would be a route to investigate? As you may have seen I'm just starting my Sagaris adventure while you finish yours and I've dealt with Str8six right from when they first started. On the day I picked mine (last Tuesday) there were 5 in their relatively small yard (so much for rarity eh wink ) so they know them pretty well?

Good luck anyway as someone else has said maybe you're not meant to sell it yet? smile

Final question do they all have an "attention, this vehicle is reversing" type of indicator noise? It's bloody awfulheadache

Did they come and view the car, or hadn’t they seen it yet?

No. He didn't come and then renege. That's one of the reasons that I am giving the benefit of the doubt.
