Oh yes I forgot. The mono-point fuel injector is dodgy on my Peugeot 106.

Please would you let Peugoet know so that they can modify the design.......

Dead Rodent alert!

chaparral said: any results posted here will end up being analyzed and sent to TVR.

And filed by them in the round filing system.

I am totally convinced that TVR will change their whole way of working based on a survey done by a six former in the USA, NOT!

For those that can't be @rsed to look at young Chaparral's website, here is his advice to a new car manufacturer:

1. Secure sound finances first. The first couple years will be rough.
2. Hire a racecar engineer to design your suspension systems and setups. There are tons of them working down South and a good one will cost you far less than the bad press you'll recieve if the cars handle like pigs.
3. Get your hands on an easily serviced, reliable, commercially available engine and then ask the manufacturer for 30 extra CID.
4. Carve out a niche that hasn't been done before. Avoid these well-defined ones simply because a new automaker can't compete with an established one especially if the old manufacturer knows its place. For example, Hondas are well-engineered, popular-priced cars, Mazdas are Fords with a little more "oomph" to them, Mercedes-Benzes are the best-engineered cars in the world, etc.
5. Remember the three basic principles of vehicle design; they are the key to any automaker's success. First, Occam's Razor- keep it simple, stupid. Second, Chapman's rule- F=ma also applies to an automobile. A lighter car always is better for competition use. Third, Donohue's theorem- "An engine is the right size if it can just barely spin the tires all the way to the end of the longest straightaway on the course".
6. Rear-wheel drive with a limited-slip differential is the way to go. It's a lot easier to design a great-handling rear-driver than any front-wheel drive vehicle. Come up with a catchy name for the limited-slip system.
7. Don't plagarize. Not only are you stealing other manufacturer's intellectual property, you also end up with a non-unique vehicle with a strange name on it.
8. Don't build the cast-offs of other manufacturers. People don't want the '77 Ford Pinto in any form.
9. Win races. Pretty self-explanatory- win on Sunday and sell on Monday.
10. Make a manual transmission an option on all of your vehicles. Car and Driver, Road and Track, CAR, and EVO will love it- and these magazines sell more cars than any advertising campaign.

Wise words indeed.

Also a few words by the boy Chaparral on himself:

This is Charles Kaneb's Webpage. There is no reason to fear him unless you are an inept automaker.

He is capable of driving any machinery on any track to within a tenth of a second of the lap record 10 times in a row (or until the tires wear out, which with the rubber he buys is often). He can get 50 percent better gasoline mileage than anyone else on the track while maintaining pace with them (unless their car is faster, or his breaks, which is often) He often sets qualifying times that would put him on pole in the next faster class. Go to my Link Page My Running Race Results, Year by Year

Bless him

Sounds like a level headed, team playing, nice guy...not at all up his own ass or 'full of it' so to speak.

(and a very reliable Griff which I can drive faster than any other car on the road, except those that are faster)

Gaffer said: I said I wouldn't get involved in threads like this again but some of the comments have made my blood boil and I wish I had the ability to lock this thread before it started.

I very much doubt that TVR would commision a survey like this - they get most of the info from me.

One of the main reasons I left helping was people doing what Lance has done on this thread. Most people haven't had anything like the number of problems he had.

Thats all I am going to say - no doubt I will get flamed but I am past the point of caring.

Claire I'm confused

There is absolutely nothing wrong with this thread that I can see. In fact most of it is questioning what the whole survey thing is about anyway. Everything in my previous post about who commissioned etc was because I don't understand why Chapparal wants the info or how it is to be used ie I won't give it up just like that. Thats a GOOD thing surely ??

What has Lance done on this thread ??? He has sent via email which means any possible negative stuff stays off the thread. Again surely thats a GOOD thing ??

Congratulations! You've found my website! There is no factual information anywhere on the site, nor did I intend to convey any serious sentiment there. It was created wholly in jest and in order to satisfy the school's requirement that every student have a working website with tables, links, frames, and boasts. I now realize, a day after beginning this topic, that what is said here hasn't a chance of being taken seriously by TVR. Oh well, question ventured, knowledge gained.

As said before this has been done to death and it is off some good people on here and eventually they will bugger off, which in the long run is no good for any of us. In future surveys, use the search facility. Cheers.

Er No, the difference is,
1. there are people on here who will be taken seriously by TVR
2. you will not be taken seriously by TVR.
