I'm sure you guys have sussed this, but for those of you still pouring petrol on your shoes, turn the petrol nozzle so the hose is pointing back at the "T350C" badge on the rear. That way the curve of the nozzle allows it to go deeper into the tank with no splashback.

This is my third TVR but the first I've managed to fill without spilling from day one. Must be getting good at it I guess!

Yes now sussed. It is because the vent pipe comes off horizontally from the front so when you fill it with the nozzle vertically the fuel blocks the vent and results in the splash back.

The factory are looking at the problem and an associated venting issue which I'm sure will be resolved soon.

Well, I've tried this and it is better but I still spilt some....

It needs sorting really, you shouldn't have to deploy some weird tactic just to fill the car up.

Bennno and I have both emailed TVR about this issue, lets see what they come up with...

I tried the '3 o Clock' filling position this morning and still had some spillage! Ok, Ok, no rude jokes please!!

I will brush up on the technique next time.

One thing you should look out for (which I found this morning) is the Chrome/Stainless Guard around the filler opening has come unstuck. The spilled petrol must have weakened the adhesive keeping it in place.
I suggest everyone checks theirs to make sure it is still tight, as it looks like it will just fall off soon!

They are dealing with it and started looking at the problem on Monday. I don't know timescales but I think they are getting there. All I can suggest is anyone with problems contacts their dealer or writes to TVR so they are fully aware of the deapth of the issue rather than just taking it from me. :unoffical tvrengineerandproblemfinder:

Happened to me too. Didn't I look a prune the first time I filled up. People looking at the car and peering in. As I pulled the hose out the chrome trim clattered onto the floor. Quality!

I was passing the dealer and they put it back with some black silicone gunk, which is what it's fastened with from new. Not likely to last once a few drops of petrol start eating away at it. Had to drive around for the day with a nice masking tape cross over the petrol filler. Looked like the car had cut itself shaving ...

Got my t350 in january and still maintain that filling up is easier using the garage with the crappiest pumps (problem worse at Esso Mobil etc, but better at little independants and Asda). I fill up with hose coming out towards the back of the car, using gentle pressure (slow progress), not full bore. Still cuts out a bit but splashback is minimal.

Just thought you'd like to know that the Tamora is perfect for rapid filling, with no splashback, and no spillage. Err, just thought I'd mention it (voice going quieter as multiple angry faces start growling in irritation.....)

I'll get me hat, coat, gloves and ner-ner-nee-ner-ner machine

However, you would think that TVR could machine a fitting with a threaded flange to fit inside the bodywork, to compress the alloy surround on - Black silicone seems to be their answer for everything!
