The Journey Begins!

apex saidAlso I've been asked by my dealer to pay for the car as its left the factory as opposed to when i take delivery. Something about the dealer having to pay TVR out of thier own pocket. Its not a big problem just wanted to know if this is normal practice.....
Thats very dodgy and you shouldnt pay for it until you have seen and accepted it!!
Its normal to pay 10% when you spec it and the balance when its pdi'd and ready for collection.
I guess if you delay collection unreasonably they might ask you to pay for it but otherwise no.
What dealer was that then??

Dealer is Peter Smiths Sportscars up by Donington Park.
Think the situation has arisen because my final spec was completed last week in Feb for delivery mid April (which was what always stated from ordering at the show. The logic something about no decent weather until April/May!!!)
Seems the factory build has been quicker than expected and the car is imminent at the dealer. Given I can't take the car (would love to but have money tied up etc) they have offset the money they need to pay tvr with a finance agreement I've signed this week
Basically as long as I settle as per normal on delivery the financed agreement can be cancelled before the first payment is due.
I'm comfortable with it as a) the dealer to date has been very helpful/accomodating and b) outside of billing hrs my brain shuts down to anything more taxing than "Mile High"

seems a bit odd, dealer must be cash strapped.
seems mad that you are financing the car to sit at a dealership, its the dealers responsibility if it turns up earlier. if you are paying for it then why bother waiting?
surely if you sign the lease agreement then it means you have accepted the car and to cancel it would cost you 2/3 months interest payments
