mrsd said: Duh Glad you're happy with the car otherwise though Had TVR build quality put into perspective by an Audi related incident the other day though. Debating whether to post it...

Well, I know a guy who had the whole of his Merc respayed because it arrived from Germany looking like it had been painted with dulux and a brush....it happens to many more car makers than TVR....

Come on then, give us the Audi story...I'm all

Bad luck Flash .... could have been a lot worse thogh. These things happen.

Surprised the car left the factory with the paint as you describe ... can you photograph it or won't it show up it's that subtle?

Bad luck, as others have said i guess it could have been worse. What have you been given in the meantime?

Bad luck.

Talking about the handbrake, is it a rear drum in hat or a combined caliper?
I suppose a drum in hat wouldn't have failed...

When I read the original post in this thread I have to say that all I had was a mental picture of Flasher (I’ve never had the pleasure of meeting Andy but was still able to conjure up a mental picture - somewhat bizarre!!) nonchalantly leaning against a window chatting away on the phone sipping a drink being eminently please with the world and all it has to offer admiring the fine form of the T350C sitting there on the drive, thinking that things could not get any better not even if Kylie Minogue came and squirmed around on your lap – all is well with the world in fact birds might even be chirping in the background, then……………………… the moment is shattered as you stand there in true comic book style – jaw expanding enough to hit the floor while eyes leave their sockets on stalks. Watching the car head off down the hill and though the garden wall and looking, staring in horror at the Golf then back to the T350, back to the Golf then the T350C again before hurling yourself out of the door, dropping the phone and drink in the process as you chase down the car. Before it comes to a stop feet from the Golf

Sorry if this trivialises the incident (I do feel sorry for you and am glad that the car wasn’t badly damaged) but it did raise a macabre smile but only once I found out the car was okay!!

I dont think its as bad as it sounds. Its a tiny mark which appears to have been missed at the factory.

If you go on a tour the quality processes are good at the factory but the fact remains that its the most time consuming element of construction of the whole car.

flasher said:I do think that TVR need to have a more stringent quality control in place than they currently have. especially when it comes down to paintwork. I know too many people who have had faulty paintwork recently for this to be a one off....

Not just recently, I don't know if you remember my experience when I bought my Griff back in 99? It had a paint problem on the nose and the bloody engine siezed up whilst it was being re-sprayed. Glad it happened whilst it was in TVR's hands! And... the goodwill I got was worth a bob or two! Rich... Still love the car to bit though (perhaps that's not the best expression to use)

Sorry to hear of your car's wilfulness Flasher, as others have said it could be worse.

I thought that the Cerbera had a separate drum type brake that the handbrake operated on...?

bennno said:...I had this on my cerb, but fortunately managed to wedge a rock under the front wheel before it hit my house (car was locked at time and keys were in house). Its definately the break disks shrinking as they cool down which loosens off the handbreak...

Know the feeling Flasher!! My C8ERA did a rolling start on me once, but managed to catch it. Not only TVR's do it coz my Mazda 626 Was parked on the drive after a long drive and 15mins after i'd parked it on the slopped driveway it all cooled down and reversed down the drive and into the 5 bar gate! Luck it was shut or it could of ended up in the electrical sub station down the road!!

Ben

Have to disagree with you on the "tiny mark" comment. I wouldn't call an 18" by 2mm fault in the paint "tiny"

But, these things happen and hats off to TMS for being so helpful.

No idea what they are going to lend me, but at least I'll have a decent car to play in while they sort the paint. It's going in for service tomorrow and the paint job later in the month.

Dunno, they still had it last time I went there, I can't understand why it's still there to be honest especially as it has a (ahem) "special engine"

Maybe it's the £32k there asking for it
Swiss Toni had one in on Monday for £30k

Remember that the price is negotiable raceboy, and that the car has just had a full engine upgrade at the factory with all the latest mods...

I'm not going to say on here what you could get it for.....but it's a good price...

I'm begining to think I'm the only person who watches BBC 3
And if only I had a large wad of cash burning a hole in my pocket I'd be over to Melton this afternoon as I think it looks stunning and I know it's quite nippy
Think racegirl might go off on one if I blow the house deposit on a new motor, especially as I bought a new motorbike yesterday
