I got exactly the same thing with my Tuscan. The dealers couldn't find a problem so told me it was water ingress from when they jet washed it for me.
Mike
Probably not but there you go. This was three years ago and they claim that water had got into the wing mirror electircs and fd the electronics up. The next time it did it they didn't have that excuse.
I can tell you it was somewhat embarrassing trying to coax the thing onto my driveway with black smoke billowing out the back
That car was a bit of a Friday afternoon special to be honest (an understatement to say the least) but hey, it's for sale at one of the South East dealers now so someone else can enjoy it!
Benno, at £51.70 per hour labour (inc. VAT) I think they're very reasonable.
See their website for prices:-

Let me know if you've got any specific questions?

Well I think I'd spoken too soon!
Had the same problem again last night with the fuel pump relay and had to get the RAC to recover the car to TVR Power!
Spoken to Dom this morning who's arranging for the car to go back to Blackpool for a thorough checkover!
Just hope it won't take too long!

flasher said: Sorry to hear this Andrew, fingers crossed it doesn't take long to sort. try not to fear the worst remember that when mine went wrong they thought the engine was shagged and it turned out to be a jammed fuel injector. Different symptoms to yours though as mine started and just mis-fired and flooded itself....
Keep us posted mate.
Flash
if yours was just a jammed fuel injector why did they tell you that the engine had to be removed flash?
Bennno
From what I was told mine had all the symptoms of a blown engine or damaged piston. Therefore they removed the engine to investigate this.
The upshot is the car was back to me in four days and is still running superbly 1,000 miles later.
I don't have any choice other than to accept their story, and why should I disbelieve them??
Andy, sorry to hear about your continuing problems mate...
It sounds like the same problem I had, Five weeks in the shop and it still wasn’t fixed. The dealer did a temporary fix (wired the fuel pump directly to the ignition) They still have not contacted me about the final solution, apparently it needs a new front loom!
I also had an oil leak, The hex bolts holding on the rocker cover at the cab end of the engine were hanging out!
Why are they so much fun yet so badly made?

Andrew, I'm very sorry to hear of your continuing woes! Cheer up, it'll not be as bad as you think.
Flasher's idea of a TVR salute is a great thought. If you want it, I'm up for it! You might get extra loud revs as well, from my new exhaust!!
It is seriously loud! It crackles, pops and bangs, even when changing gear! I'll try to post up some files of the noise it makes. As you can tell, it's a work in progress - the next thing is to put on a flat panel to cover the box, and on which to mount the number plate. I'll wait until winter to get any other work bone on it (or at least after the motor show....)
