I quoted the 4.1sec time purely to make a point. Agree with you d drinks - Have you seen what motor testers do to achieve those times. No mechanically sympathic owner would try to replicate those times.

I'm just interacting with you guys - don't feel threatened. Learn to debate without resorting to insults. I'm interested in your opinions. Let the thread develope - let's see where it goes.

I say all we Tamora and T350 owners have a scrap with the Griffith owners to sort things out once and for all.

Ah good old violence - the first resort of the imbecile!

PS Just noticed on your profile Swilly that you're a civil engineer - you're forgiven, your brain's obviously defective.

Jigs, no-one is feeling threatened mate, believe me...

A debate isn't something where someone says something deliberatley inflammatory just to cause upset and argument. Maybe you could consider not posting such inane drivel in the future......we live in hope...

Then stop doing it, flasher.

I quoted one acceleration measurement to highlight the nonsensical nature of such information in the real world. If that provoked you get some valium from Duncan.

Do you ever step of the clutch at 5000 rpm never mind everytime you take off from rest? Why do I suspect you'll say YES!

Keep it coming!

I thought this was an enthusiasts site. Sounds like you have all missed the point and need to go back and ask mummy for a tvr that fitted in your shorts pockets.

Now pay attention Jigs!!

As you took the time to visit my profile (thank you for that, leave a donation at the door on your way out)
you should have also noticed i dont actually own a Tamora/T350C.
As an intelligent man you should have realised my comment was a satirical take on the general standard of banter this forum has dropped to.

As for the 'civil engineer' comment i fear you are quite true.

Now that is all cleared up you may go out to play.
Good boy!

forum rule number one:

Don't feed the trolls.......

It only encourages them, if something really winds you up, ignore them. I'm sure the real people. i.e pistonhead member you have met, or know after many months of posts, will be equally annoyed/amused and think what a **** as well

OK looking back through some data from the TVRCC speed tests on the "Prom " at Blackpool a few years ago I can see that the fastest car on that day was a Cerbera 4.5. No 0-60 times were taken (a bit irrelevant anyway being too dependent on driver ability) but the best Griffith 0-100 time was 10.1 vs. the 9.1 stated by Autocar for the Tamora. Of course the Blackpool times are actual times achieved by club members, I don’t know if the Autocar times for the Tamora are TVR’s press figures or actually achieved by their driver – Robert? The same Griff achieved a standing 1/4 time of 12.8 vs. Autocar’s time of 12.5 for the Tamora.

This aside, I can say that at Bedford Autodrome last September the quickest car on the track that day was the green Tamora driven by Neill Anderson, now I know he has obviously done a lot of track driving in TVRs but I expect there were also a few other decent driver out there and I didn’t see anything quicker all day – Tuscans and Cerberas included! Rich…

I think I was at the autodrome at the same time. Neil was going through the high speed chicane at the back straight *at least* 20 mph faster than me. On the straights I could keep up - but that was because I heard they were running the car in and keeping the revs below 5000rpm!!! I think driver ability had a lot to do with it - although from where I was (behind) the car looked like it could take a lot more chucking about than the Tuscans which had to be driven very neatly to be quick.

btw the Rover V8 cars were as fast as everyone else apart from accelerating on the straights, under braking, and the corners.

Cheers,

Andy.

Indeed but chatting to Neill over lunch I am sure he said it was the gear-box they had changed not the engine, anyway it was certainly quick! Funnily enough I found it was the Tuscans that blocked my passage through the corners, not sure if that was down to the cars or the drivers Rich...

Rich,

According to Autocar, 'each car is performance, speed and brake tested on a neutral proving ground', so I guess they managed to achieve those results themselves.

It's also interesting to note that the car being tested had only covered 2551 miles, so I'm sure the figures could be improved on once it had a few thousand more miles on the clock.

One further set of figures that may be more relevant to day to day driving, are the in-gear acceleration times:

mph - 5th - 4th - 3rd - 2nd
20-40 - 7.1 - 4.6 - 3.1 - 2.1
30-50 - 6.2 - 4.3 - 3.0 - 1.9
40-60 - 6.0 - 4.2 - 2.8 - 1.7
50-70 - 5.9 - 4.3 - 2.7 - 1.6
60-80 - 5.9 - 4.1 - 2.6 - N/A
70-90 - 6.8 - 3.8 - 2.6 - N/A
80-100 - 7.3 - 4.0 - 2.6 - N/A

80 - 100mph in 2.6 seconds!
