After reading Grahams excellent web site, i decided to try and play around with the air flow, in preperation for my 275+ mile trip to see the guys in Blackpool, i`m travelling up to my Mums place on Monday, but the though of TVR+rain+long journey, made me try and adjust this setting, what i want is, more air to come out of the top vents, to help demist the screen when necessary. After playing around for a while, all i got was a flat batterylaugh I was adjusting with just the ignition on banghead
After a jump start and run, now even with the temp set to cold all i get is HOT air coming out,at the same level as before! what have i done wrong?

Oops!

Sounds like you need to go back into the factory section of menu and reset the flap zero again - often different for each car but mine and several others are best at about 35, though others have found somewhere around 25 works for them I seem to remember. At least that gives you something to start from. smile

But going back to your original aim, I don't think you can adjust the actual volume coming out by anything other than closing all the other vents - don't forget the two in the passenger footwell (if same as T350)

I did mine without the box in place that covers the heater flap so I could see it moving. As has been said every car is different so the only way to know if you have max movement is by trial and error or remove the box that covers it, which in itself whislt technically not difficult is a pain in the arse as it needs to be sealed in again afterwards otherwise it leaks

Well I feel silly now. I didn't know about Flap Zero at all. I just thought my Sagaris had a crap heater system with cold air only on the lower vents and the temperature control affecting the top vents onluy.

I guess I should go read the owners manual

You are correct, high level vents should ONLY blow hot and the face level vents should ONLY blow cold air. My understanding is if the flap is not set correctly then you get warm air on the face vents....

Well, whichever way you look at it, the heater system on the Sagaris is a huge retrograde step compared to my previous Chimaera. The Chimaera had screen demist, and you could vary the air between top, middle and legs.

It's kind of pathetic that on a car that retailed for over £50k new that in order to demist the windscreen you have to lean forward and manually angle the face vents towards the windscreen. And the mid vents only blow cold air.
That's even more basic than the Suzuki Carryall / Bedford Rascal van.

I fitted a ford water bypass valve into the water system before te heter box matrix. When its hot I just switch it on and stop hot air getting to the heater matrix - Cold air then comes from the top and bottom vents. A quick trip to quick fit for a air con refill last year and its excellent.

Not on later models.

When set to cold the top vents on mine blow cold air to the screen, and colder with the aircon on. My flap zero is set to 14.

Am I the only one that wants MORE heat in the cabin? Using the Tamora in the winter with the rof off is not pleasant as the cabin is bloody freezing!

Other than experiment with the settings, does anyone have any suggestions? I don't fancy dressing up as if I were going skiing, with base layers and salopettes, next winter.

Well, you could put the roof up when it is clearly too cold for anyone but a nutcase to have it down, Lee. hehewink

Good God no!

That would ean that I would have to stop shouting "Get your top off!!!" to people in other convertible cars.

Possibly, just possibly, I might mostly do this to female drivers... wink

The exhaust is toasty-warm, incinerating anything within reach.

Just peel away the insulation above the gearbox & enjoy smokin

Well 4 years in and you learn something new every day, after playing around, i now can get hot air to the screen and cold air out of the face vents by having the temp control on the amber setting!
I`m with Lee the heater on the Tam is the worst out of my other Tivs (Chim and Tuscan) But yesterday it was a bit warm with the heat from the gearknob after my trip up to Blackpool. No aircon, for the amount of times i use the car roof on, i`m not that worried. I went to the factory for probabily the last time, but as i imagined there was nothing there, apart from "fred in a shed" at the end near the service department.

I looked in my factory settings and my Sagaris' Flap Zero is set to 14. But since it seems to be ok I'm leaving well alone.

But as i was in the garage tonight trying to get my head round the lcd screen i found it set at 14.
Also found other info driving time etc.
Also found other parameters which were over my head rpm and speed set to o i take it that's some kind of limiter but i could'nt change it.
