RE: SCOOP: TVR Sagaris
Discussion
This car needs an age rating...
front is superb, all the fins and vents just look like the batmobile, but (and it is a big Butt) we seem to have the second PH name of the day to be taken seriously by TVR. Saggyarse has been followed to the letter, the diffuser is just plain daft, as someone has said it is reminiscent of the carisma Cerbie, then there is the perspex thing. if you must have it there, do it in something else - like carbon fibre. Personally I don't care how well it works function can be achieved in better form than this....
Not that I am having a go - it is the best TVR they have ever made with engine, perfomance and aero upgrades so it will be an utterly brilliant car.. I'd guess there will be little to touch it on road or track. Well done for being brave and individual to TVR at least somebody does....

Wow. TVR never cease to amaze me. Whether you like it or not it's certainly gobsmacking!
My understanding was that this was going to be the basis of a racing car - so all the gills and diffusers will be useful. I hope it becomes a winner on the track!
As for me buying one ... I think I prefer the cleaner lines of a T350C or T, but with the 400hp engine pleeeease.
Mind you, a black Sagaris would fit in my garage ...

Video of the car in motion is available on PistonHeads.TV

Yep, do a 'Save Target As' on the link.

For a car that is supposed to be more focused and more function over over form, why have they covered it in cosmetic rubbish of no practical use?
What possible purpose could all those slats over the front and rear wheels have?
What is the point of the rear facing roof vent, and SURELY there must be a better way of doing the rear spoiler...
Mark
Aerodynamics I guess. Let's the breeze out and keeps the car sucked onto the ground at a guess
T/. (no knowledge of aerodynamics)

Know much about racecar aerodynamics Mark?
Slats over front/rear wheels reduce under wheelarch airpressure which can cause lift. Have a look at a Mosler or Saleen (and other GT cars) to see other examples.
Rear facing roof vent is probably a result of having to raise the roofline on the drivers side so that you can sit in the car with a helmet on.
Rear spoiler does look pants, but look at the Tuscan-S! The important thing is that it does a job.
Fact is, most spoilers are far more cosmetic than ground-force inducing. The 'chopped' read of the T350C would give good aerodynamic efficiency, but adding that lower spoiler thingy probably upsets the airflow a bit. Didn't see any sign of a diffuser? The small spoiler probably just helps settle the rear a bit.
All IMHO of course!
Am really disappointed. It's fine I guess for racing purposes but for a road going version it really is too Max Power. As has been said before, the spoiler is stupid and the exhaust layout and rear cover is plain ridiculous. Give a 14 year old a T350C, a chain saw and a few bits of extra plastic and voila...
oh, and where is the fuel filler cap?

Like the overall look myself . Is it just me or do the two main vents in the middle of the bonnet look like they can open and close .
[Reaches for bat-wallet...]
I thought they looked positionable, too. Wonder if they'd stay in place with huge amounts of air-pressure on 'em, tho?
I'd rather they alter the back end to expose the exhausts normally, and if some kid doesn't pull the spoiler off, I will! But, personally, I really like it. Will just take a while to get used to the rear end. Plus, when you're driving one you'll only see the front end - everyone else'll get the rear view.
