sound proofing
Discussion
It really depends what sort of noise you want to get rid of...
Expanding foam is great for getting rid of vibration & rattles but I wouldn't really call it soundproofing.
Dynamat or Dynasorb will deaden the sound inside your vehicle so you will hear less road noise etc. It is however, very heavy & quite expensive & would do little to alleviate the engine/exhaust noise unless you cover the firewall & all of the rear cavity with it. Your car would then weigh so much you would need one of Dom's 4.5 Litre engine upgrades to do anything except tootle around like Richard Whitely on Mogadon...

just want to lessen the rattles and squeaks from the doors and help the speakers, nowhere else.
What rattles and squeaks in the doors? Mine doesn't, the only rattle I can think of is the nearside trailing edge of the bonnet 'slapping' up and down on nasty road surfaces. Do you get rubbing between the door seal/window or something? Otherwise you've got something loose in there, get it tightened up.Note: The stereo is never going to sound ace if you're an audiophile.
it has been squeaking like mad but think its the door card it self because they have been removed this week for a retrim and it stopped.have tightened everything inside the the door and lubricated so time will tell but still seems to rattle on our crap roads just thought some sound proofing would just make it that bit better.

thinking of putting some insualtion behind the door cards any thoughts or recomendations?
Contact Keith Hume (Glow worm on here) as he had sound deadening added to the doors of his Tuscan. certainly made the door feel more substantial, and closed with a much better 'clunk' if that made any sense. from what i can remenber, his was added to the back of the door face, not the internal card.Paul

Fill the doors with warm custard.
Its been proven to reduce the sound by at least 50 %, and will work a treat.
Please post pictures.

I put Custom Audio 12mm Self Adhesive Duct Foam ( http://www.customaudiodesigns.co.uk/contact.htm ) on the door cards and the innner door on my Tuscan Convertible...expensive but well worth it... all the inner door rattles gone and the door have a "coach built" feel because its put more weight in the door. The type of fibreglass weave used on the new cars was a lot lighter than say Chims/Griffs and I think the doors have a "tinney" feel to them...a bit of insulation tape on the door striker helps loads also (when closing your doors).Use 25mm (non adhesive) under the footwell carpets.
