Dad just called back and I spoke to Trevor Cooper. The is a slight problem with some, not all speedos over reading. The program they use for the Speedo needs to be tweeked according to Paul Harrop. Not sure of the details (I couldn't hear Trevor properly as someone was revving an engine in the background...lurrrvly )

Basically if you suspect that yours is over reading its a trip back Oop North to Blackpool for the ECU to be re-programed.

As for the door problem, that id due to the door release button, its a tight fit and sometime it sticks. This is NOT a common problem, it appears only to happen on a few of the earlier models.

The Glovebox has been modified with a new catch so if you are sending your Tamora back, see if they can change the Glovebox at the same time.

HTH.

Thanks very much Claire, I'll get in touch with the factory. I will need a whole new glovebox, because the fibreglass moulding needed a certain amount of err, manipulation, to get the catch to fit!

Incidentally, I don't takr these little problems as evidence of lack of care by the factory. They are annoyances, but if all manufacturers had similar hypercritical fans and websites such as Pistonheads, I'm sure we would see a lot more of this type of whinging!! As long as the things are put right with minimal fuss, that's O.K.

Nice one Gaffer. A more proactive service than we've come to expect from TVR!

Thanks when I phone Dad the first time he was in with PW so I passed on Nubbins comments (subtle that I am) and I think they were was pleased.

He did do Customer Complaints for a while but he was too good at it.

Any other compliments that need to be passed on - just let me know.

Gaffer, thanks for that!

As I said, my ECUs back from the factory but my car's at the bodyshop as the dealer's scratched it! Hopefully get in back by Friday so I can check the mileometer.

The other problem that myself and Nubbin noticed were that both our cars leaked in the footwells. Turns out that the seal at the bottom corner of door opening had gaps you could put your finger through! I've told my dealer so this should also be fixed when I get my car back.

Incidentally the problem with doors that I had ties in with what you say about the early cars as mine was one of the first couple.

Thanks again....... Andrew

Claire (Gaffer)

As you may or may not know, mine was the second off the line and was the TMS demo car. I have heard that the one before it (the old press car that went to Barnet) had a resonating (vibrating) exhaust and that the factory has sorted it out, is this true??? do you reckon this is just a problem on the earliest car's or are all of them like this?

Nubbin, Andy, does your exhaust vibrate???

Apart from that, the car is nothing short of spectacular and you can tell them that I love it.. I should have it back at the weekend and I can't wait, the Cerbera is starting to annoy me now.....

Flasher, my exhaust was knocking on the plate/heat shield thingy, and it was because the plate wasn't fixed centrally. It was fixed by the dealer at the 1000 service. The exhaust does make lots of noises but only the sort that make you go !!

Claire, once again thanks. I know you don't work at the factory, so taking time out for us punters is much appreciated, and thank your dad too!

And, I got a letter printed in this week's Autocar - they forgot to mention the Tuscan R, in their roundup of "200mph supercars". It seems they mainly define "exotic" as "expensive" and presumably foreign, but I've tried to put them straight! I've sent another letter this week, because of the picky, small print nature of their "against" comments in the Tamora test. I can agree with the "weak on safety" bit, but to say it's "pricey", when the Boxster is more expensive and the Z3M the same is boody silly, but not as silly as mentioning fuel economy as a downside. Fuel economy?! In a £40,000 sports car?!! Pur-leeeze!!!

Claire, why not see if your dad, yourself, Mr. Wheeler and the rest want to trot down to Chatsworth on 9th. June (PH 3rd. meet) I'm sure they'd get a very friendly reception, and might make a change to get compliments from the grass roots....

Flasher, I haven't noticed any rattling/knocking from my exhaust?
But then again I haven't seen my car since March 19th so can't really remember!
Cheers....... Andrew

No, but if you get it back by the weekend I might try to compare noise under engine braking to see if it's just me being a picky twat

I haven't got mine back yet either, but should have it by Saturday, one fault left to clear apparently....

I really appreciate TMS loaning me a Cerb, but after a week, I have remembered how much I hated the heavy clutch, the freezing cold legs, the useless heater and more funnily how much it pissed my neighbours off with the loud exhaust

I really impressed the leggy blonde from IT at lunchtime though, that's two nice girls from work I've taken to Morrisons now

Not a problem guys.

Flasher: I will try and ask Dad tomorrow morning but I am in Magic Roundabout land (Swindon) for most of the day. I will try and get something for you though.

Nubbin: Got Autocar on my knee and I can see your letter about the Supercars. What a load of tosh the reply is. "Un-exotic Price" I bet its half the price of the others.

EDIT: I am beginning to go off Autocar that Steve Sutcliffe is a prat. He keeps warning people off TVR's then goes onto say what problems he has with his Porker...!

This is what I was looking for from the AutoCar website:
quote:
"I'm looking at a secondhand TVR Cerbera and remember that Autocar had one on its fleet a few years ago. Can you tell me what to watch out for, or are you still on TVR’s payroll?"

"The main thing to avoid when buying a used Cerbera is signing your name on the cheque. So long as you sidestep this part of the buying procedure not a lot else can go wrong, so long as you buy a Porsche 993 instead. Which probably answers your second question, too."

***********
Thanks for the invite to Chatsworth, I shall let my Dad know. Not sure if Roop and me can make it we are based in Cheltenham and will have just got back from the US.

Hope you get your cars sorted soon.

Hello Gaffer
Could you please ask if they have decided to retain the French student for the training he has asked for?
It's more than two weeks since I sent the application to Mr Oxley but unfortunately I haven't received anything yet
Thank you!

Thom: I was going to reply on the other thread but may as well do it here.

Will do. Like I just said I am in Swindon most of the day but will phone Dad in the morning and give him the list.
