Pirelli P Zero Corsa tyres
Discussion
Ive heard people on the Porsche forum talking about only getting 4000 miles out of a set, but I now have 2200 miles on mine (no track days) and they still look like they have a lot of life left in them.
As for prices www.mytyres.co.uk are always a good benchmark.
Fronts are £305.60

Rears are £396.90

I make that £1405 + fitting for a full set!
I assume by the question that yours are close to replacement now, so may I ask how many miles you have had out of them?

No, I have 4k miles on mine but they look ok so far. I think I need to get up a bit early one Sunday and find a nice twisty b-road and see just how sticky they are :-) As for prices www.mytyres.co.uk are always a good benchmark.

I had close to 8000 miles on a set (taking into account that i run winter tyres from Nov-Mar) and mine had another 2000-3000 miles in them if i not picked up a nail last Saturday. This included one day on track at Silverstone - so i think a conservative estimate is 5000 - 6000 miles depending on driving style obviously (and whether you touch that SPORT buttom).

Oh dear. Expensive nail. Did you replace both tyres on that axle?Murph7355 said:
Whilst you boys are talking V12Vs, I can't help thinking that these tyres are about 75% more expensive and last about 25% as long.
If you're not using it on track, the upside is going to be minute.
Why not just fit Bridgestones (don't they use these as "winter" tyres anyway)?
Yup Id agree - there was a thread a few weeks back where we talked about and identified the merits of all year round / cheaper tyres. If you're not using it on track, the upside is going to be minute.

It's a good point Murph (although the standard AM9 Bridgestones aren't wide enough)I'm not a fan of the tyres myself (because of their cold weather performance), but they are awesome in these current warm conditions and the V12 needs all the extra traction it can get!!!If you're not using it on track, the upside is going to be minute.

My vote would be for the V8S compound in a larger size please A.M.

Has anyone tried the 3cm narrower tyres? My vote would be for the V8S compound in a larger size please A.M.
Or perhaps an alternative brand? (Though these days, that's always a bit hit or miss on cars like this owing to the way they're set up).

I have not tried 3cm narrower tyres. I can get the TC to light up in 4th in the bone dry in a straight line on hot tyres so no way would I go with a smaller contact with the road !!Or perhaps an alternative brand? Car is still with HWM waiting for a set of new tyres - apparently they are in short supply.
Knowing how much development went into the tyre/wheel set-up of the V12V i would never contemplate putting anything other than the recommended tyre on the car - this is the wrong area to save money imho.

The shortage is something I have heard about. Also agree - don't save money on boots!Knowing how much development went into the tyre/wheel set-up of the V12V i would never contemplate putting anything other than the recommended tyre on the car - this is the wrong area to save money imho.

If I change tyre it wont be to save money - it will be that they are amazing for 15% of the year and terrible for the remaining 85%. These tyres may be ideal if you live in california but in the UK they just dont stack up on a daily driver. Im not really interested in messing about swapping tyres / wheels every 6mths as I know you do...Knowing how much development went into the tyre/wheel set-up of the V12V i would never contemplate putting anything other than the recommended tyre on the car - this is the wrong area to save money imho.
When we visited AMW we discussed the new pirelli intermediate tyre. The V12V design guru talked about the amount of work that went in to testing the car on specific tyres and how important the testing was for both the winter tyre and the summer tyre. They thought that they would be doing the same performance testing on the new tyre between now and the autumn so might be worth checking with them. On current performance I expect to need new tyres then and if they carry AM's approval my single tyre choice will probably be satisfied by them. I love the P Zero's and can cope in most conditions with them but for that extra bit of confidence in the wet I think the intemediates will be a better all round choice, subject to AMW testing of course.

Wow! Have you been driving Miss Daisy?
Seriously though - that's very impressive
Not many people I know would think that (miss daisy) but I do think I look after tyres. Maybe more Jenson Button than Lewis Hamilton! Seriously though - that's very impressive
I agree with the expectation of the pirelli's on porsche - my GT3 lasted about 4000 miles - but the same tyre on the V12V (despite the power) are proving to be a much better tyre choice.
I’m on 5,000miles and still good for at least double that in my PZC’s.
One of the issues I have to put across to AM is why the DBS wheel will not adequately fit the V12V?
DBS
Front Wheel 8.5J x 20, Tyre, P.Zero 245/35/20
Rear Wheel 11J x 20, Tyre, P.Zero 295/30/20
V12V
Front wheel 9J x 19 Tyre, P.Zero C 255/35/19
Rear Wheel 11J x 19 Tyre, P.Zero C 295/35/19
So in terms of diameter, the radius is 12.5mm larger on the DBS fronts, however, there is a 10mm reduction in front wheel width when compared to the V12V.
The rears are all but (exc diameter) the same and plant the same power down. Both have the same ceramic brake disks – so clearance there is not an issue.
Therefore I am thinking apart from a modicum of a gearing issue, why the DBS Fronts fitted to the V12V would snag at speed under high turning rate with the V12V? I cant imagine the clearances are that tight? We also know the DBS P Zeros are good for game?
Isnt the DBS setup the all-year round V12V solution?
Anyone with a bit more understanding why not?
