Very wise analysis JohnG1........

V8 Vantage
+
Pressure charger
+
standard crank
+
sintered (not steel) connecting rods
+
cast (production) not forged pistons
+
inadequate cooling pack
+
no sign off trip to exacting standards to Nurburgring or -20 / +30 degree climates

= blown engine and dubious driveability ...... complete disaster.......

Edited by BamfordMike on Thursday 21st July 12:54
Looked at the RSC website, its the supercharger bits, etc. No internal engine modifications. frown
Does come with a CD though for self installation....

Please add:- 'keyboard warriors' who are unecessarily snotty about posts they could just ignore if they don't like them lol.

Personally I wouldn't go for one of these conversions but each to his own etc.

Better edit to say just a bit of fun as slow afternoon and am in the 'that's naff/get a V12V camp myself.

At least the OP didn't say that their supercharged Vantage "pisses all over the V12V" as RSC did on 6speedonline. *eye roll*
That was maybe a tad much - as I hear the V12V is damn good, but with the same power and alot less weight over the front axle it ain't going to be worse!

And they are talking in the US of having this as a $20k conversion - er excuse me but convert that (sure it will be more in daft Britain), but that is cheap as chips, if popping on a 3-5 year old AMV8 (say they go for 35-45), let say it is £20k inthe UK that is V12V busting (or at least as fast/good) for say 60k! Half price!!!

The Noise of the only one I heard was just the best thing ever - Mental - forget track day - like std but way deeper and WAY Louder (which I'm sure could be tweeked down to customer request) - that one had a big bore (front to rear full system on as part of the (test package).

What about torque? Not to mention reliability. Plus the fact it isn't going to be much lighter at all. So it will be worse. Much worse.

It isn't half price either, if you compare new to new, so technically it saves about £20k for a car that isn't as good. By the time you have fit CCM brakes etc it will have cost more. You are saying it costs half price for a V8V at the low end of the scale, compared to a brand new V12V.

If it was only about the noise, just put a quicksilver exhaust on a standard V8V? Cheaper and much better car in the long run.

Std V8V (4.3) Power weight 242bhp/ton 380/1.57k
V12V - 510/Lardy1680kg = only 303 bhp/ton
V8SC 520/1.590 (added 20kg for blower stuff)= 327bhp/ton and a wall torque. And way less weight hanging ou front (understeer)!

Gosh, I've owned two. I will be on the phone forthwith to send it back to the dealer as I am not knowledgeable.

I must have missed the "after market tuners of note from before I was born" lecture at the dealership as part of my "Are you suitable to purchase an Aston Martin" course.

Well done - still come out occasionally.

I was informed I get EXACTLY the reaction from the UK Aston fraternity as I'm getting. Supposed I should not be too surprised then!!

Lardy? It weighs less than 50kg more. Less than 30kg more with your aftermarket ste bolted to it.

There is more to a car than power. You could give a car 10,000 bhp, but if it cant put it down it is useless. The V12V will undoubtedly be faster in the real world. I would also put money on a V12V lapping any circuit faster than your "5 year old half price" version.

By the way, a standard 4.3 V8V is 232 bhp/ton. It also weighs 1636kg not your 1570kg, which has dropped considerably from the 1.7 tons you said before.

For similar money to what you are suggesting, you could get something like this, which I would also put money on being faster around any track.

Glad to live up to expectations.

Let me make an alternative offer....

If anyone at RSC would like to come on here and answer the points that Bamford Mike makes and engage in a discussion with him I will donate £10 to Help for Heroes (http://www.helpforheroes.org.uk if you have not heard of them).

So - a charity challenge from the UK Aston Martin fraternity to RSC.

Now surely someone from RSC would be confident enough in their product and be happy to discuss it with Mike??

Not often our Aston forum gets some falling out,and if I want keyboard warriors I can visit the McCann thread where there`s been a couple of bannings and some interesting back biteing.
If you do your 20K shafting of a V8V what would you be able to sell it for and to what leper colony?

Because I've only got a slow 4.7 V8V and therefore needs a supercharger so I can compete in the "my car has bigger numbers than yours' competition I have scoured eBay for one but I presume you lot have all beat me to them cos there's none left.

On the Gerry Marshall front I too got that question wrong on my "suitable to own an Aston" questionnaire when I first went into a dealer. However I correctly answered the question on which well known British spy drives Aston Martin cars and also "did you own a Corgi Aston Martin DB5 when you were a child?"

Do I still have to sell my car?

I take offense at the statement "US punter like alot of Bling." That RSC thing in the photo (as well as their white roadster shown on 6speed) hurts my eyes. Some of us actually have good taste.
