Quick question - has anyone ever changed these before? If so are they easy to do...?

I only ask as mine don't appear to be very bright... :-\ I saw another V8V with some extreme white LED's at the front and it looked great - very striking. Mine didn't appear to be anywhere near as strong.

If you mean the strip of LED's they are integrated in to the head light unit and also contain the orange indicators LEDs

I too have noticed that my white LEDs are substantially dimmer than those I see in cars such as Mercs, Porsches, or Audis. Does it depend on model year? Maybe the new cars' lights are brighter.

New cars are designed with higher output more modern LED's
Don't forget the current headlight unit was probably designed in ~2002 for the 2005 launch wink
Also it was never designed for todays "day running light" EU legislation smile

Mine actually has 1in tall birthday candles in the light housings. These were considered high tech by the lighting guys at the time.

I try and use them as little as possible as I think they've half burnt through already.

I believe the indicators are fireflys that receive an electric shock (and are fed as part of the 40k service).

So question is - anyway to replace them?! If Porsche/Audi use a similar set up then maybe their bulbs would fit? Assuming you can even get to the back of the lights in the first place. I'd imagine it was a unit out job...

I think you will find it is a whole sealed unit and they are not designed to be replaced.

This.

I guess if you were handy with a soldering iron you might be able to do something with a lot of faffing...

Doh... Bit useless if a bulb ever goes then?

Think I know the 'bling' ones you mean - saw some on the front of a meathead Audi and it was as if he had fog lights on.

Whatever happened to understated beauty and elegance ? smile

Yup that's the ones.

Absolutely nothing wrong with it. However I think running with my full xenons is a lot less inconspicuous than a simple LED strip, no matter how bright wink And style is a very personal thing - some people like them, some people don't.

LED lamps are not like incandescent bulbs. They should outlast the lifespan of the car.
