Jay Leno reviews the V12V

Oh, no need. I have no driving talent.
So back to my point - trail braking is to transfer momentum forward to get more weight and therefore grip on the steering wheels. Which makes sense in a 911 since it will understeer in most conditions due to chassis design and weight distribution.
But I don't see why this would be needed in a front/mid engined car like a V8V or indeed in a V12V with another 100 kilos up front.
Hmm. Could be wrong but I'd have thought any trail braking (by trail braking I think one means "braking into the corner") in a 911 is going to move the weight sidewards and not forwards. So back to my point - trail braking is to transfer momentum forward to get more weight and therefore grip on the steering wheels. When I did that in a 911, a monumental spin ensued due to that damn great lump that was dangling out the back fancying coming to the front. I think the mantra was brake in a straght line and get back on the power as early as you can into the corner. I could of course be wrong.
In a Vantage the weight is about 50:50 front:back and the effect of trail braking is to bring the tail around a bit more, but not uncontrollably so. Watch the motoGP guys to see how it works. Scary but very impressive!
Caveat. Don't take any 911 driving lessons from me. I was distinctly "midfield" in that.

its a bloody awful review .......borin borin boring for a boring US market.........for what is probably the best car Aston make
+1. From the few vids I've seen, Jay Leno is definitely a petrolhead, but not a terribly gifted driver, which reduces somewhat my respect for his opinions. Still, I wouldn't mind owning 1 or 10 cars fewer than him. GlynMo said:
