been looking for a db7 for a while now and have looked at a few vantages , but found a very nice manual i6
now i only expect to do around 3k a year and i am a ok with basic maintanance so what would you expect a i6 to cost to run a year.
not sure i can stomach the running costs of the vantage and 2 of the cars i have looked at needed at least 4k spending on them {brakes , engine mounts , bushes , coils etc} making me think the i6 might be a better bet for me

I have owned both an DB7 i6 and a DB7 Vantage.....the i6 was not as well made and very agricultural.......save the extra pennies and get the Vantage..... .you obviously have done your homework with regards to the normal suspect problems....coil pack, brakes, mounts, rear bushes ..........keep looking you will find a well cared for sorted model, expect to pay 22-25k

Talk to Dom or Stuart at Chilterns as they have a nice selection.

I6 is cheaper to run (as in cost of parts) mainly because it has lots of Jag bits. The Vantage has more uprated and Aston only bits which makes it the more expensive option. The Vantage is a much better drive though and feels alot more secure on the road. The thing with all DB7s is to keep up with the maintenance and not lot it build up over time (ie, I'll leave that little job for another time) as you'll end up with a huge bill when you finally get it all done. When one thing starts to wear out it tends to have a negative effect on all the other bits around it.
If you do find one, make sure you get it checked out first by someone who knows about them. Good ones are great, bad ones are money pits.
One other thing, with the I6, the auto box version is very slow (4 speed box and first is next to useless), the manual car is much quicker (about 2 seconds to sixty quicker!). The Vantage auto is alot better (5 speed) and although the manual is still faster and unrestricted the difference is alot less than the I6.
Hope you find a good one.
