Wonderful car......plate is awful.
That's strange, I checked the forecast and it didn't mention anything about raining t0ssers; yet it's flooding with them!Take a long jump with a short bit of rope. You clearly have no life anyway.
I hope you have far less to say in real life. Otherwise your face would be as ugly as your personality.

Sounds like you had a blast. I had one of the world's cheesiest plates stuck to my car for years - originally on my Boxster about 11 years ago and then on my 911 a few years later. People call me Muj (short for my full name) and the plate was B16 MUJ. Everyone thought I was mad, in fact that included me as I thought it was daft buying a plate like that even before buying it. If you consider I work in a very serious job and regularly meet very senior people in large companies, responsible for making billion pound decisions - you'd think it was part of a recipe for career suicide. However, my number plate made me out to be a humorous person (I'm not big or tall) and people ended up seeing the lighter side of me. It even became an ice breaker at stuffy meetings. It's not what Joe public makes of you, it's what people make of each other when they meet in person and get into conversation or dialog. Could you be friends with some who called himself BIG MUJ and drove a white 997 cab? You'd probably think not, until you met me! Opinions are opinions and we're all entitled to them, as long as you feel good about your decisions that's all that matters.
So true, mate. It's a shame not everyone on here shares your thoughts. I hope you're enjoying the car as much as I am

Can you not treat a forum as you would a real life situation? Would you tell a kid their drawing is crap? Would you tell someone in a wheelchair they look like a transformer?
I posted the pics at others requests and have not solicited honest opinions on my choice of plate.
If you posted a pic of your wife, I wouldn't comment that I think the dress is nice but it's ruined by her figure - IMHO. That's just not socially acceptable.
I'm amazed that I am a member of 3 testosterone fuelled bodybuilding forums and yet I do not experience this sort of primal behaviour on any of them, but I do here.
Why would someone feel the need to p1ss on my parade? This is just my second day of ownership and I get this. Well thank you very much!
People who do this must either be insecure or lack social skills. Those really are the ONLY 2 options. There is no other explanation justification.
Don't try to be a keyboard Rambo. Just leave this thread and stay on your side of the playground and I'll stay on mine.

My view is as valid as yours, and I continue to believe that the size/shape of the front plate on the car spoils the lines of the overall shape.
I dont give a toss about the letters on it if thats what you think. Now smile nicely and enjoy what is a lovely looking car (apart from the plate!)

Yep sounds like me........but I do love your car.......and I'm sure your more intelligent than your written word would suggest.....but the plate spoils the car......I wish you well
Yes I am, so thank you Like most things in life there is a time and a place to exercise your level of intelligence or to show kindness, anger, love, hate and to make your opinions heard. The opinion you chose to exercise served no good purpose, other than to annoy and to dampen what has otherwise been a fantastic first time experience of owning an Aston Martin. I'm just glad it's your shame and not mine.
I hope you think in future before posting such unproductive opinions. This is exactly what I hate about texts, emails, forums etc. It's too easy to say what you want without attaching emotion.
Your car looks stunning BTW

The plate is a standard size and I'm already pushing my luck with the spacing, so there's not much I can do about that. My view is as valid as yours, and I continue to believe that the size/shape of the front plate on the car spoils the lines of the overall shape.

As for my balanced reply........ Of course it was not balanced. I didn't like your unnecessary and unprovoked comment and so I bit. It's not as if you were intending to give constructive criticism. It was a snipe; plain and simple!

There's a lot of good natured banter on the Aston forums, more so than on a lot of the others. A few of the people on here have very polarising opinions, you seem to have met one or two of them. However as this is purely a subjective matter it doesn't do anyone any good to get het up about it.
Some people don't like your plate, fair enough. It's your plate and you do like it, that's all that matters. This world would be pretty damn boring if we all liked the same things.
I also have a private plate on my car; it's just a number and my initials (which don't spell anything even faintly amusing), but it's correctly spaced, in the right font and I like it. You'll find a few people on PH who hate the idea of a private plate at all, no matter what it says. You'll also meet people who don't like grey cars and there's a fair few of them on the Aston forum. Does this mean they are right or wrong? Of course not, just a differing of opinion. Don't let them get to you, just give back the same good natured banter they give you.
I personally think the Vantage could be sky blue pink and still look stunning, but would I have a Sunburst Yellow one for instance? Not a chance.
I'm glad you've decided to lose the plate box, it does look out of place on the car, big clunky thing that it is (the plate box, not the car obviously ).
Anyway, all this rubbish aside, I hope you have many miles of trouble free motoring with a massive grin plastered all over your face. Enjoy.

I'm sure I'll be enjoying many more miles but the more trouble free they are, the happier I'll be, lol.

Ooh, damned right I am.... Although that occasional clutch smell is worrying me a tad
Is that from thrashing it or does it just seem to happen randomly? Was your clutch changed at 17k? I'm not too sure what they told me when I enquired. I don't suppose you got a gaurantee on the clutch for 12 months? I know it's not part of the standard warranty.

Btw, I am firmly in the 'plate is awful' camp. Other than that, it is a stunning car.
Vantage's have a high ratio reverse gear which lends itself to warming the clutch quite quickly........
Something to do with the size, shape of the box which leaves the ratio somewhere near second. No doubt someone will be along shortly to supply a much more detailed knowledge of the subject. However, take it as it is all part of the character and uniqueness which comes with enjoying an Aston Martin. Forgive the foibles and you will enjoy an immensley capable car which is also stunningly beautiful.
Mine is a sport shift and you soon adapt a technique which is more conducive to mechanical wear and tear.

Congratulations on realising a dream.
I went for a test drive in this pearlescent blue 2006 (56) plate on Friday and loved it.
My wife is insisting I get a sports car as she says after working hard for 25 years I deserve it. I sold my Elise 11 years ago when we got married and I'm in no mood to argue with her.
I loved the car. The leather seats rubbing on the leather trim making that lovely squeak, the exhaust note, the fact that you can sit at 30 in the villages in 5th then just fly through the revs to 7000 without doing anything with the gear shift, the fact that the speedo has barely moved and you're showing 100mph (closed roads of course), the rev counter goes anti-clockwise.
I actually think that I'll wait 2 or 3 years and go for a low mileage 4.7l model when they are between 40 and 45k from a dealer. But this one, at £41k at Lancaster in Cambridge is just beautiful.
It has blue and cream interior. Cream suede headliner, cream seats, blue trim everwhere else.
If you're in the market, I'd go for it.....
Oh, and that may sound like I work there or am on a commission, but I can assure you that isn't the case. IT consultancy is my field I'm afraid to admit.

Yes it's a public forum; I get that! I've never once asked for opinions. When I first announced I would be collecting my car, I was asked to post pics. I did not ask for critism did I? Now I wish I had just lurked rather than try to get involved. It's a very split community on here. I never known it anywhere else!Btw, I am firmly in the 'plate is awful' camp. Other than that, it is a stunning car.
What annoys me is that people like yourself can't help but post something negative. It might be your opinion but it was not necessary or asked for.
What drives you to post something that would annoy or dampen a good thing? Why can't you stop yourself? Why can't you think to yourself "I don't like it but I don't have to say anything".
I don't like some colour cars and I hate some interior colour choices but I would never tell someone that for no other reason that to be horrid. Even if I were asked my opinion I would at least be diplomatic. This only seams to go out of the window on a forum.
You clearly wouldn't walk up to me at a meet and say it. Firstly because I'm sure in public you're much more like a normal person with a thought process and social understanding and secondly because you wouldn't know how I might take it and I'm sure you would hate to carry your nose home in your pocket.
I might be wrong though. So if you would like to discuss this in person, I would be very happy to do so. Would you like to? It's a simple yes or no? Lets not bother sniping on an open forum anymore. Lets do this in real life. Are you game or are you going to shrink behind you screeen?
I couldn't care less if I'm banned now. There are some good people on here who are happy to help and then there's people like yourself. You're clearly someone who feels the need to jump on the band wagon just so you can express lifes frustrations.
You're a troll!
