Evening all. I can't help but notice that there is not a great deal of Rapide discussion here on the Forum. Reason I bring this up is that now we have our wee daughter it's a bit of a squeeze to get us all into the Vantage. Not much space for 'er indoors in the boot..! So, I feel the time is rapidely (sic) approaching where I may just have to chop the V8V for it's 4-seat cousin [or maybe a Bentley Continental GT]. Are the Rapide owners a happy bunch? Anyone had both a Rapide and a Bentley? What did they prefer?

Much ta!

According to the roll call, we don't appear to ave any Rapide or Cygnet owners on here yet.

I know of one Rapide owner: Dr Ulrich Bez. Has a mews house very close to Stratstone in Mayfair. I make a point of blipping the throttle past his house if his car is there. biggrin

Been looking at a few. In fact was at wilmslow today. I'm in the same boat. Just not convinced...just doesn't look as good as my v8v(!) IMHO. I had a look at the back shelf of my v8v and wondered if it could be modified to accommodate child seating smile

Did he not auction it off for the Japanese charity appeal?

It was there when I picked up my car two weeks ago. It's a slightly odd dark blue. There's another one just round the corner and there's one up in Highgate.

Before now I had never put 2+2 together, but now I know where he lives, or roughly anyway.

Bit of thread drift, methinks...! So, has anybody owned both a Continental GT and a Rapide...??? If so, which did they prefer and which was best suited for family use?

Welcome to the Aston forum, home of some seriously major thread diversions!

I think the answer is going to be fairly obvious if you ask on the AM forum if people prefer an Aston or a big VW.

Also, is the Flying Spur not more comparable to the Rapide instead of the CGT?

Ya know what? My last car was a 997 cab and it had just the perfect pair of child friendly back seats. I'm missing that aspect of it.

He did auction but it was specifically for the families of Toyota employees affected by the disaster - clever move if he is trying to get closer to Toyota wink

It's my Dad's but I drive it a lot.

Never been in a Bentley CGT but I would say the Bentley will be faster and more spacious. But then again that's not what the Rapide's about. If you are coming from a Vantage you will be very impressed.

The Rapide is starting to look good value on the used market IMO, for a DB9 owner with growing little ones they do look like a tempting alternative, still great to drive and a lot more practical... you can even have a DVD with twin screens in the rear seats and wireless headphones biggrin
