Walked from the age of 5 to 18 and then at Uni until 21 after which I bought my first car: aFord Escort 1.3 in sky blue with some brown rusty parts and an engine that blew after 2 weeks of ownership!

The old man paid for a new engine (as I needed the car to get to work) and I never paid him back...he doesnt need it now as he popped off 8 years ago!

I used to know an Anthea Morris but she was really called Marina.

I also used to know a beautiful blonde (female) bombshell called Alice Cooper.
Anyone know a Martin Aston though?

yes I've always thought it's one of those rare cars that looks better in estate form than as a saloon.

My wife was taken to school in the 1959 DB MKIII drop-head, which we still have in the garage smile
I seem to remember my transport was a Hillman Minx frown

I learned to drive (another thread perhaps) in an Austin 1300.

I walked to school aged 5. Then when I went to senior school at 11, I went by train (walked to station). When I got to 16, I'd saved enough for a moped (Yamaha FS1-E) and then chopped that for an RD250. When my parents did drive me (if the trains were bust) then it was a Datsun 120y coupe (the shame).
Did you live my life for me when I wasn't looking?

Thats nearly identical to mine down to a "T". eek
The only difference is my RD was the LC model.

There were very few private cars on the road and even less petrol available. I used to go to school in the morning in a single decker Crosville bus. The return journey along a different route was in a Crosville gas powered double decker towing a trailer containing a large coal gas bag.

Much to my Parents anoyance, I would cycle around to my mates house, have a second breakfast, and then get taken to school in a Lotus Eclat by his dad. Once I passed my test I would cycle around to another mates house and sit in the passenger seat, so he could drive a capri 2.0 Ghia with L plates to school. (about 3/4 of a mile)

Mk4 series 80 ? (mk5 ?) My parents had a mk1, mk2, mk3, mk4, mk4-80, sierras x 3, mondeo x3 and focus x2

at least 8 of them were estates.

On my mums side - Hillman Avenger - nice gold colour that hid the rust well, an orange Audi 80LS and Austin Allegro (green with black vinyl roof). The latter I also learned to drive in.

My dad had the better cars - Rover 2000tc, Toyota Celica 2000GT, Ford Cortina GT (which he went through the front winscreen in after hitting a bus whilst swerving to miss a dog! - ended up blind in one eye), some pillarless Merc coupe and BMW 2000

Car? I was about 8 before we got a car.
We moved from London and I could see our school from the house.

My mums idea of taking us to school was watching us from the window!

First car - Moskovich, light blue with the fuel filler hidden behind the rear numberplate. Though at that age we had no idea how rubbish it was.

A friend of mine used to drive himself to school in a tractor when he was 15. Since it was an agricultural vehicle, he didn't have to wait until 17. Caused some parking issues though!
