I read that the Zagato is based upon the V12V - is this correct? If it is, apart from the obvious visual aspects, what has been changed under the skin?

nothing. Mechanicals identical - engine, suspension, gearbox, wheel/tyre size will all be the same. Skin and minor rework/badging to the interior will be the only difference though a few bits and pieces that are extras on the V12V will be standard on the zag, as may a few that are not

That is truly bonkers
I'm pretty certain you could have a team of virgins hand-beating them out of solid gold while taking alternate 15 minutes to scoff caviar and drink a bottle of LR Cristal and still come under "budget"
Crazy talk

Better that you don't buy a Zagato then, John, given your recent record. hehe

£26k a side? yikes I thought they were only made of ally? Granted it is going to be a serious skill to hand beat them, but would anyone actually know the difference if they were just machine pressed?

I'm probably in a minority of one but the Zagato does nothing for me, I think its pig ugly. The big open grill and the untidy rear spoil the original V12V in my eyes. Each to his own though.

Judging by the dedicated thread on the Zag a few weeks ago, you are in a decidedly large majority smile

Yes, they'd be better if they were machine made! But that isn't what the Zagato is about, it's a handbuilt car made in very small numbers for collectors, based on thei best handling and fastest road car. looks are always subjectove, but what's not to like? It isn't supposed to be value for money, it's automotive art!

FWIW, when I saw it in the California Sage colour I thought it was stunning.

I agree whole heartedly. And the wheels are even more hideous. Perhaps too much 'Germanic' influence in the design process? Looking at some of the wretched customs originating from German tuners, you wonder if it is a 'German thing' to put outlandish wheels and other bits and pieces on a car. All I know is that the Zagato is a pig's breakfast of styling elements, or make that lack of styling elements...

I agree -- the Zag has amazed me in that anyone at all has expressed an interest (at that price). Utterly ridiculous proposition, and I still cannot believe they have found 100-150 odd punters to buy one. One-77, I can understand, but this... no. It's a messy looking, ugly, untidy version of the V12V with no enhancements that are at all worthy of the price.

Sorry Bez, we are losing patience with the 'special edition' approach - get your hand in your pockets and build a new model (no, the Virage is not a new model)

Ya the Zag is a big disapointment to me too, it's not even like they did a crazy reskin a la reventon

I think this is what were going to be seeing from Aston from now on, i had a feeling this was going to happen when they got bought out by some wealth fund or what have you

I don't get the V12 Zagato either. It is not particularly pretty as i still think that the V12 Vantage looks more coherent. And as it does not differ on any other parameters than the body shell i don't get the pricing either. I would have likes to see a 100-150 exclusive on the V12 Vantage but the Zag does not cut it.
