A friend of mine has just done a track day with an Aston and on the mile straight got to 161 mph, still had two gears left.
Impressive

I think he might mean 1 gear left me thinks and few tracks in the UK with long enough straights for an Aston road car to do that ...which circuit?

I was down there not long ago, rolling start, up to 8mph, put it in 5th(!), foot hard down and at the 3/4 mile point (the braking point) I was doing 159mph!V12 Vanatge at its very best! It will hit 160mph in fifth on the limiter. Millbrook is well worth ago! Anyone thinking a, Aston's are slow or b, they can drive, will have their perceptions realigned after half a day there!!

They run them all the time, it is the PDC course, you don't need to wait for a special event or anything like that, just get in touch and book it.......

Molly and I did the PDC last year. I was lucky enough to have a few goes at the straight mile. The V12V is just about to hit the rev limiter at 156 mph in fifth, I just cracked 166mph in sixth then you have the Oh my God moment as you hit the braking point, the turn at the end looks like a right angle. Very very addictive! To achieve 160 plus you need to flat it in fifth. The car is truly awesome.
To anyone considering going on the PDC, all I can say is DO IT !

As I posted after my PDC I achieved 168mph on the mile straight, but I do know others on here posted 170mph plus.

Exhilerating but I was gutted not to top 170, would have really been a 'Holy Grail' moment.

I guess you would be knocking on the door of 180mph at Brunters in a V12V.

Even my puny 4.3 V8V read 164mph on the speedo by the end of the runway.

yup those V12's are very punchy, I jumped into one after my 996TT which is pushing over 500bhp and the V12 felt very quick indeed.

Realistically what would a V8V actually top-out at on a long-enough run? 190 indicated? I previously had a Cayman S that showed an indicated 186mph on a (very) long run so jumping from 320bhp to 400bhp with a longer body and (probably) slippery backend should add a few m's.

Im sorry matey but either that Cayman was turbocharged without you knowing or the speedo was over reading by more than is usual.

My guess is that a V8V will get to about 175-180 true speed given enough room. I havent seen more than about 160 at Brunters.

In which case the speedo over-reads, which is not surprising. I was trying to get an idea of what the "indicated" speed would read flat in a 400bhp V8V.

Depending on which review you read, its anywhere between 176 and 180MPH (for the 4.3)
