AMV8: When, what, etc

I went to Stratstone, to enquire about AMV8, I was told that the car is now sold out till 2009. No deposits can be taken any more. And thats it. Could any one tell me if any garage still taking the deposits?
Thanks

This is correct, there are no deposits taken yet, any dealerships that have taken 'Cheques' cant cash them until an order is placed. The AMV8 has still not been officially released and until then no deposits will be accepted. The current position is handing an Aston Martin dealer a letter of intent which puts you in the queue for the AMV8 and effectively they have enough to fill the order books until 2010 apparently. Not all letters of intent will order though I am sure so expect the waiting list to be around 4 years max, still long enough though!!!
My letter of intent was acknowledged in January 2003 and my car is within the first 6 months production I am told.

Where did you find this info out... I have a letter from my local dealer requesting a cheque for £5000 which will be "refundable" if the model is not made.

When I heard some months ago that some guys on this forum had been asked for a deposit I called my dealership, Grange of Welwyn, they told me no deposits will be taken as the car is still effectively a concept car! They also said this is the practice that ALL dealerships should be adopting.

I was told on Sunday that deposits shouldn't be taken now, and I won't be asked for a deposit until the first cars are approximately 6 months away from appearing in dealers.
If I remember correctly (I was swooning slightly at this point ), the car is due to be officially announced at the end of this year, with the first cars appearing at the end (September-ish) of 2005, so I'm expecting to have to stump up the deposit sometime in spring 2005.

Old AMV8 Vantage. I want one so bad it hurts.
Going for a TVR Griff instead of a 'normal' AMV8 in Oscar India spec. I reckon even a Griff will be cheaper to fix if something goes wrong than the Aston.
A shame though. I love those old Astons.
Ah, but the Aston won't break down in the first place...
Would love to discuss this as it is a serious dilemma. The way I see it, £15 grand gets me a reasonable, sorted early Griff, or a very, very ropey AMV8, which will break down horribly and cost a fortune to fix.
I have set myself a £15K limit as this car will be a toy and do about 2000 miles a year; hence no spending silly money. I want a V8. If I could find an Aston V8 for the money, I'd go for it. A good Griff would be an easier prospect, I think.
Correct me if I'm wrong - I need some thoughts from people with experience...
i work on astons and although i am passionate about them i would not recomend buying one unless you have a vast bank balance ,they cost the earth just to buy parts for ,the bills for doing the work on them look like the price tags on new cars of major manufacturers ,i myself have been tempted to buy before with the view that i could repair the car when it went wrong (note i said when it went wrong not if )but the price of parts scares me rigid ,if you are seriously considering an aston all i can say is research it well and buy the best one you can ,not a resto project the repair bills for bodywork are HUGE!!
