Just got myself a '96 BMW 328i soft top, 70,000 mile full service history, leather, bluetooth, etc etc etc for £1000.....saves the salt getting to the precious metals that go to make my V8V, Cheaper than getting the v8v serviced!....bargain,......what is happening with second hand car values, ok the beemer is 15 odd years old, but it is still a good car, with luxuries you wouldn't have dreamed of 20 years ago. ust have a look around and see what you can get for a few grand to help save your AM through the worst of the winter, fancy a 928 for example? or a 500 sl merc...dream cars a while ago, now as cheap as chips...time to enjoy.

Sigh. Things like the make me really resent living In London frown

£1000 to buy, but a small fortune to store round these parts.

I had a 325 of that era a few years back, fantastic cars, 3 series since then has got too bloaty.

You can't have everything Theno....living in london AND looking to Get a Vantage aint too shabby mate, you could get away without having a winter hack as weather in London aint the same as in the sticks. p.s get a 4.3 manual....in years to come, the first of any model will be the most prized....! you will love it.

Lucky for me I have the perfect winter machine... My work vehicle.. Nissan Navara Aventura, Best thing I have ever bought (other than my Vantage) for practicality... I work from it, earn from it and laugh at snow and other stuck drivers... LOL.... I did pull a few cars out of deep snow in it last year...

Reliable, well built and can be had at some bargain prices now...

Yeah, fair point smile

I've not yet test driven a manual, it's high on my todo list though.

I live in West London and have 5 parking spaces, 4 underground, one overground. It's not *that* expensive compared tho the price of the car!

Tony, I like your style. If we all did that, pretty soon we wouldn't even need to buy winter cars smile

and the heating bills will go down....which means more money in ones pocket...to spend on luxuries like soap and st...which boosts the ecomony....which makes us all better off...to buy bigger cars...which will warm up the planet even more...so people will holiday here.....spending the money they have saved....

I think i need a thank you from everyone for solving the worlds debt crisis by buying a rangie....

We moved to South Florida 6 months ago, and bought a 100,000 mile 325i, one owner FSH as a runaround for my missus for similar money. Unbelievable condition. Every time I drive it, I think to myself... damn BMW used to make some well-built cars. Half the stuff on it looks like it just rolled off the showroom floor.

But in my defence It is a Discovery as I have to fit one of these in the back and the RR is a tad small for him.

Fingers crossed, tomorrow my winter hack will become a 996 C4 Cabriolet smile

What a car for the money, it could in theory replace the Alfa GT, the VR6 and the Land Rover!
