Any pro`s or con`s on the above.
Always thought these non manufacturer warranties were a waste of time.
Everytime a claim is put through you hear the stories of them rejecting it under the "general wear and tear" guidelines.
Also Tom Hartley cars, loads of nice vehicles but what are they really like.
Has anyone had dealings with them? Have you had a problem and if so how did they respond?
Everytime I view a car at the moment I come up with obstacles.
Saw one on Saturday,55 plate. perfect spec, 11k miles 2 owners, full AMSH but needed £4k to get it on the road what with service, new tyres, couple of small marks(me being anal)Plus owner did hammer it up the road on the test drive which scared the S**t out of me.Maybe thats why it needs a new set of tyres.Getting old me`s think.

Appreciate you boys helping me out and am getting nearer and nearer to damaging my bank balance.

Tom Hartley's are fine and they were professional when I dealt with them. They do have some mouthwatering cars there don't they, when I was there I had a sit in a SLR and should have bought the blue Zonda they had in stock.
I've no idea re warrantywise, not likely I'd bother either with the sort of tales you can read online.

Non manufacturer warranty. That's a bit like "beautiful ugly woman". It's just wrong. They will just rip you off.

The AM warranty is pretty good. I had a huge amount of work done on my V8 under warranty - drive train from engine backwards removed, rear suspension removed and new fuel tank fitted. All under warranty.

Anything else is - in my book - a waste of your hard earned.

So much negativity towards used car warranties, they are not all bad, also think part of the problem can be the person....they seem to get mixed up with the word used and new.

We had a customer had an injector let go on an A4 TDI, usually siemens issue and that was paid....shouldn't have been in my eyes, Audi should have footed the bill as they normally do but that's their problem.....and ours as it looks bad.

Other recent claim was on a wheel bearing, also paid out.

Not all bad, read what is actually covered, WW is quite tailored so you need to know what your getting, there is a lot of add ons with a premature wear option, MOT cover etc.

Be interesting to hear any story from someone with a recent WW Platinum product who have had a claim rejected and on what grounds?

Same for a Formula 1 Autotrust product.

My Warranty runs out end of December and was wondering if anyone had experience of alternatives as all the issues I have had have not been covered.

Thanks for your advice boys but they sold the car before I got a chance to look at it.
Never mind, shame Mr Hartley jnr didn't have the decency to return my calls.
Maybe that's what happens when you are too cocksure.
Will keep on looking.
Thanks again all the advice.

Stuff 'em!

Failure to call back is just pathetic. I've had this. Just don't go back there. It's funnt how dealers pop up on here - wonder if anyone from Hartley will man up and make an appearance?

That is a comment that seems to come up with amazing regularity.

I enquired there about a couple of cars when I was looking,I'm still waiting for a response. They seem to sell plenty of cars but I've no idea how if they never follow up enquiries.

Doubt it, he's making too much money smile

What happens when you run something big, never enough hours in the day.

How is it 'funny' how dealers pop up on here?

I've browsed around here for long enough just never done anything, some people in the motor trade are as passionate as the next man about cars.

The internet and forums are great, however there are negatives when someone has a story to tell which is often of a bad product or a bad car, you don't hear about all the people who are satisfied.

Some warranties are better than others, some cover more than others, if the customer reads the policy booklet or has it explained to them, then they know what they are getting.

In my opinion dealers selling cars of such value must ensure that all buyers are happy! Yes there's a small percentage of 'luck', that something might go wrong... but again it's their responsibility to do it right! OR they can always reduce their huge margins !

Thanks for that. If a person in business is "making too much money" then I humbly suggest that he or she is a fool - turning potential or actual customers away is the act of a fool. If a dealer cannot manage to call people back then I suggest reading Management 101 - Delegation.

Indeed some folks in the motor trade are passionate. And some are not.

It's funny when dealers pop up on here because they utterly fail to grasp the medium. On here is a thread where someone posts a question about a Mako V12. The dealer selling it posts a response. I replied - "why didn't you call me back". That was a dealership from which I had already purchased a V8 Vantage and had them service it for three years. His reply? No response. My reaction? Buy another Mako V12V from somewhere else. I was clearly a buyer of a Mako V12 - the dealer principal was aware of this from the day of the release of the news that the V12 was going into production.

So - it's funny because dealers come on here and periodically interject but they never actually engage. And that's because most, but not all, are blinkered, short termist money grubbing fools.

See your point, the making to much money was not meant seriously.

However time can be precious and it is all dependent on the situation and set up.

For example I spent a number of years in a high pressure job, didn't matter how many times I read Management 101 - Delegation, there was still never enough hours in the day.

It was hard enough just trying to stay afloat.

Sames goes for any business, can be down to size of it and amount of employees afforded to the business.

Most companies take on more work than can handle....however it's not always by choice, sometimes it's landed upon you.
