Just wondering how many of you are AMOC members just trying to get a feel of the club weather it's for me or not.

I use to be a member of the TVRCC (still am) and that club is very good for outings and events etc

Thanks

I am a fully paid up member of AMOC.

If that doesn't put you off joining then I will be gobsmacked smile

BTW so are Tony Hall, Yeti Rob and Molly - inter alia.

OK I'll kick off, yes I'm a member and thoroughly enjoy it. There is probably something to do most weekends if you have the inclination; 2 x major concours events each year, the race meetings, various regional events plus of course the monthly pub meets. You will receive a monthly black & white A5 newsletter, quarterly glossy A4 magazine of very high quality and an annual publication from the Heritage Trust which is a book in it's own right. You can check out the web-site and non-AMOC members can participate in parts of the forum (you need to register). In the 4 x years I've been a member I've attended many concourse events at National Trust type places, joined a group of 20 Astons on a weekend in the Champagne region, been to Le Mans Classic, watched racing at Silverstone, been to my local pub meet, attended a special Sunday hog roast/car display raising money for Help the Heroes, been to Sir Alfred McAlpine's private railway & museum, pic-nic at Hever Castle... It's not cheap but is, in my opinion, one of the best.

It's a club well worth joining, the big events are fantastic though I have yet to go to a 'meet' as such and don't do anything with my local area. Don't really know how to and at this time I am unable to grow a suitable beard anyway.

Last year they took over the grounds of Blenheim Palace for the concours. Royal patronage, cheap entry to the house, hundreds of Astons and the highlight... A Spitfire aerobatic display!! C'mon, how many car clubs have that kind of pull!

My renewal just popped through the post, no hesitation in going for it again.

Plus it was the hottest day of the year. Oh and we all got to see (and sit in) the One-77 long before the lesser people. wink

Yep, roof off there and back, picnic under the trees... Ah, what a day!!

I think it was just as hot at Hever Castle, baby Jeebus smiles upon the Astons.

I've just renewed my membership as well. Like most clubs what you put into it will probably be proportional to what you get out of it. I'm pretty active within our local area setup and recently arranged a trip to the Picos mountains. Try it for a year and see how you get on.

Nice... what area are you LBS? Not sure how I get involved with mine, I'd be London or Bucks, or Surrey, Sussex, anyone who's doing anything really!

I am a member too. I have not taken advantage (excuse pun) of any of the events as my wife was seriously ill shortly I joined two years ago. With her recovery underway i hope to join in some in future. The annual handbook listing cars and owners is a nice touch and, as some have said, the pulling power of the AM brand opens up entry to places others can't easily get to. I have also just renewed.

Area 20 Devon and Cornwall. I'm also the Area "webby", you can find a full report of our trip at http://www.amoc.org/content/view/1428/51/.
We're a friendly lot so anytime anyone is on holiday in the west country please get in touch.

Hmm, I was a member for a few years but didn't renew this year. They seem too obsessed with the older models and judging by the photos I'm about 30 years too young for the events.

I've been a member since 1994. Excellent magazines but too much (for me) emphasis on champagne tours and expensive social gatherings. Also although the Barn is amazing, I don't think the club should spend our money on property speculation/renovation.

Very happy that the club organises race series and track days.

My local area is very lively (includes the sainted T.Hall). As ever, you get out what you put in.

I'm off to Devon tomorrow, it's where the family seat is, as it were smile

Ever heard of South Molton? It's a ghastly place but one close to my heart (and liver).

Passed through SM many times in the sixties and seventies on the way to the in-laws who lived at Welcombe. IIRC the George Hotel was a good place for lunch.

SM?? Just up the road from me. The George is OK but Masons Arms is much better and Aston friendly, the local club often use it. www.masonsarmsdevon.co.uk

Sorry to hear the news about your wife, but glad to see she is recovering well.

As for AMOC Membership I - as a Jock - find the annual fee extremely cheap for what you get. I also find the 'whatwhatwhat farbacks' highly entertaining. smile

I joined when I got my DB7 in the summer (it was part of the insurance policy) and due to work I haven't had a chance to take part in any events.

I do keep getting the odd email from them asking me if I want to attend various events etc. When I come home I'd like to get more involved as it seems like a nice thing to be a part of. It would also be nice to head out and see other Aston Martins, it feels like I have the only one in my area, I've never seen another!

smile

Small world!! PLEASE get in touch net time you do something like that and hopefully I'll be able to toddle along. There is a certain hilarity to there being a Michelin starred pub in Knowstone, haven't tried it yet...

George does the best pint of proper beer in the town and the yobbos stay out. God I'm getting old...
