I joined when I got my DB7 in the summer (it was part of the insurance policy) and due to work I haven't had a chance to take part in any events.

I do keep getting the odd email from them asking me if I want to attend various events etc. When I come home I'd like to get more involved as it seems like a nice thing to be a part of. It would also be nice to head out and see other Aston Martins, it feels like I have the only one in my area, I've never seen another!

difficult topic, as the area you live in seems to dominate what events take place for you.

I use the AMOC forum and contribute to articles on repairs as well, but East Anglia does seem to be living in the past. I understand that different area's will have different requirements due to the type of cars in the area. I did try to arrange for the club, an event to attend a show at Helmingham Hall (classic and sports car show). Most of the people in the club were up for it, but as soon as politics clicked in, it all went down the pan. Rather than embrace someone who had contacts with the organiser who said they would leave a special area for Aston's at the show, The club said i could not be involved in any way as i was not a member! I said I would do all the aranging for them, and they could put all their AMOC Flags up if they wanted to, they still refused. I still went to the show, and it was a fantastic event. I attended with Pistonheads East Anglia. I think there were only a couple of other Aston's at the show all day.....what a shame.

All I can say is, the forum is great, and so are the people, but that's all I will be involved with for my area. All the people who attend events with an Aston, where I attend, Helmingham, Woburn, Knebworth, Stamford, Lavenham, to name a few, never come with the AMOC.

They would would rather arrange events just for Aston Martins, which i can understand. But half a dozen cars at a country park is not enough for most.
Just look at the attendance for the last Snetterton AMOC event. I went with my car expecting to see spectators filling the car park with Aston Martins......hardly an Aston in site... We left after lunch, and went home bitterly dissapointed with the turn out.
I've no doubt they have some great events throughout the year, and good luck to them.
Role on Hever Castle I say...... A Great Pistonheads day out again next year????

gadgit.

I am a fully paid up member of AMOC.

If that doesn't put you off joining then I will be gobsmacked smile

BTW so are Tony Hall, Yeti Rob and Molly - inter alia.
I was for the last 2 years until the renewal just came through
£85! I just don't get that sort of value (if any wink ) out of it!
That's 250 miles charging round Snowdonia and I know which I'd rather have wink

This is encouraging mostly positives.

I became a member through Loctons but not been to any meetings yet.

TBH more worried if the club would be too posh for me smile but no one has mentioned this so thats good.

Look forward to a spring meeting then.

Thanks for the advice.

Nice... what area are you LBS? Not sure how I get involved with mine, I'd be London or Bucks, or Surrey, Sussex, anyone who's doing anything really!
Yeti,

I just had a look at the AMOC website and the guy who runs the London, Surrey sector owns Trinity Engineering, He's a smashing bloke!!
Think I might join, quite fancy a few road trips out with other Astons....

I've just updated it with a picture of the 'fleet'.

The 'star' picture is still on there though...

Still if anybody is in the North West, it would be great to see you, AM owners seem to be a bit thin on the ground up my way.

Humm... I think there were 450 Astons at the Blenheim AMOC event and how many at Hever Castle, 100+? That was certainly AMOC too... smile

Joined in May when I bought the DB9 but haven’t had a chance to take part in any events or meets so far due to work and family commitments. The newsletter and quarterly magazine are nice reads and the website is not bad either.

Renewal is coming up soon and I will probably carry on smile
