Book a trackday as a novice and they have instructors that will give you 1 to 1 tuition at considerably less. Either that or I will come out with you for free smile I promise I am qualified wink.

Man, that's expensive!

if anyone would be interested I'd be more than happy to spend a day coaching in exchange for a decent curry lick

Molly and I both did the PDC. £2000. all in. We collected a V12V plus a V8V from Newport Pagnell then drove to Millbrook which was a good start because we both got to know our respective instructors. The day was fantastic, lunch excellent all in all a brilliant day. I would heartily recommend attending.

Unequivocally recommended. The alpine course, mile straight and ring being particular favourites.

Not a cheap day but certainly one that lets you explore properly the cars capabilities.

I know Lady Topaz did this and was a big fan.... Has anyone got a discount? Often this is thrown in as a freebie with a purchase but I am not buying a new car.
You not get one thrown in with your V12V purchase ???

Whatever happened to your negotiation skills Mr G1 wink

I confess I did blag mine with purchase. I could be wrong but think it was a sweetener included with Carbon Black editions.

I would have paid any way for the course. It's given me so much more understanding of the car and my abilities.

Really brilliant day out.

I would concur with whats been said well worth it, particularly the controlled skidding and the black ice stopping distances for this time of the year. For the exhilaration the alpine course, obviously, a dream drive to feel the performance of the car.

You can get a day at Millbrook with Cadence for about £500, but given Simon's price is a curry, I think I'll go out with him next time! biggrin

Surely that does not include a V12V to drive? I don't want to put mine on a track...
No, own car, but it's not like a track day. You drive your own car on the handling course (slow, particularly if you're me), Alpin course (remarkably like an Alpine road with no traffic), bowl and skidpan. Much less strain on your car than a day at Silverstone.

Also worth considering a one-to-one tuition day with Don Palmer who is a driving god.

I did a day at Mira Proving Grounds (similar place to Millbrook) on various circuits there. Invaluable to teach you about your cars handling, all very safe and no more stress on your vehicle than a spirited drive.

I am aware of the work of Mr Palmer.

But I am not willing to drive my own car. Apart from driving into walls I take incredible care of my cars, I warm them up before driving off, short shift until I get the engine warm and basically coddle them. So not going to happen. But I do want to know how to drive it faster and see what the car is capable of doing...
Fair enough, I won't preach to you on the subject as you have clearly made your mind up.

On the subject of coddling them you shouldn't leave a car to warm up before driving off as this will cause more harm than good. Most of the wear on an engine occurs in the first few minutes, if you let your car idle the oil will come up to temperature a lot more slowly than if you drive off gently. That is why manufacturers always state in owner manuals that you should drive off immediately after starting the car.

Cheers.

Another vote from me. It's such a great day out that I had to do it twice.

The only word of caution I would offer is don't have high expectations about the food. It was distinctly mediocre the first time that went.

Should be great to spank someone else's V12V around Millbrook...
Sounds great, I need to do it in the new year, hopefully they'll have a manual DB9/DBS for me to use.

Why don;t you come to Brooklands on Sunday and tell us all about it..? wink
