My AM experience so far...
Discussion
I had a similar situation with a 997 turbo,I had it 8 months of which 5 involved it being on a ramp in my dealers.
I made them buy it back off me,its just bad luck, they are usually reliable cars....the v12v is the same, you've just been unlucky.
I thought the 'lemon' laws were better in the usa for customers?

I've already looked into the LL for my state. Easily found online and rather straight forward. Car is still with the dealer. The regional AM rep was there yesterday to aid in trouble shooting. They found another "chafed" wire. It's clear they don't really know what they are looking for. But no worries, they are running their findings through the engineers at AM. *sigh*.

I seriously feel for you... Surley a new car should be sourced to let you get on enjoying your (A) new car and they can then spend theyre own time finding out what is wrong...I think that a bad start like this is damaging to a new owner and creates a lack of your confidence in the dealer... What if something else goes wrong in the near future??
Best of luck getting this sorted.

I feel so sorry for you as you should be enjoying your new toy.......personally I wouldn't have it back......perhaps you should write to dealer and say they have one last chance to get it right and after that you will invoke the lemon law........I would also be seeking recompense for the loss of use........perhaps the first service for free (assuming you keep it )michael gould said:

Exactly where it's at now. AM has decided to change out the entire engine harness. Was told it will be shipped over this week. Trouble is, the qualified techs are going on holiday and won't be back for 2 weeks. Therefore, I won't get the car back for another 3 weeks. I've told them my intentions if this fix does not work, and of course the dealer says if it comes to that, I'll have to square off directly with AM. Shame to have to involve lawyers, but it seems likely.
Have also been told about compensation in the form of service visits should this final fix do the trick.

Have you asked for a suitable loaner? Or your money back for the 3 weeks it will take them to pull their finger out?CPBRI said:

Surely your deal was with the dealer, and one of the reasons they are paid handsomely to sell the cars is to deal with this crap.CPBRI said:

They seem to have been such exemplars of customer service that I'll bet you're looking forward to visiting them regularly.Seriously, much as you love it, invoke the lemon law now. 2x chafed wires would not fill me with any confidence and I'd feel the inevitable was just being delayed. Also, chafed wires are dangerous. Especially in an engine bay. If they care sufficiently little for your custom that their techs' holidays are more important, get your cash back and take it elsewhere.
Well then, after 33 days at the dealer, a new engine harness and a host of other new parts, I am again in possession of the V12V. No trouble with the 70 mile drive home, although I'm terrified to go start the car again, as that is when the warning lights have shown in the past.
Was nice to hear the exhaust note again and play around with the power.
Hopefully there will be no further trouble.
