I cant believe someone would paint over those lovely carbon vents.

Some prefer uniformity of colour, others like the contrast (ie me).

Not that long ago that normal cars were being charged at a premium for body-colour door handles smile

I happen to agree, but then, having the same colour car why wouldn't I ? I love the contrast that sets it off from other Astons. To quote Tony Hall, it makes it look like a thug, but even if thats the case, its my thug and I love it.

If it hadn't originally had contrasting vents I would still have loved it, but, the Carbon sets it apart.

I can't believe anyone wouldn't paint theirs after seeing how much better it looks on this example.

For me, the contrast would work much better if they were just painted plain black instead of carbon weave yuck

Exactly, 'for you', not for the other 990 plus people who have bought as originally specced with cf and very happy with their choice.

I thought there wasn't an option to have them painted from the factory?

To be honest I have no idea if painting them was an option. I just cannot see the point in covering up what is one of the features that says 'I am a V12V'.

Personal choice, like everything concerning cars. Interiors, exteriors! Its great we can all have the opportunity to be individual. A bit like Tony's knobs, which joking aside I have seen, and think are a vast improvement on the originals.

Re carbon vents, personally I don't feel the cost in painting reflects the benefit.

Oh No !!!!!

This year was going so well and now I'm agreeing with Georgeous again hehe

The vents in carbon obviously suit some body colours better than others but in this particular example I think the painted ones are just what an Aston should be like - understated elegance.
Each to his own though.

Tim, the V12V is neither understated nor elegant. Tis beauty personified, proud of her heritage and ready to take on the world.

According to Paul, the guy responsible for the V12 engineering, the vents were not painted because they could not get the exact finish in the paint as on the bonnet due to the creases and hence left them in the "raw" look. I think it suits the car but that is just my opinion.

'Nurse,Tony's out of bed again!!

Such madness from the creator of fine knobs. Lucky that the V12V is so 'refined' as to not require them.

wink Di

These vents and the other Carbon Fibre bits are what the V12 is all about. We are not talking about colour coding the door handles which would have been, chrome or a different shade of paint. These vents like the front spoiler and rear tray are in a very expensive Carbon(as JohnG1 has said) and are highly polished and there fore should be on show as intended! The original owner of this car probably bought the wrong model.

When the V12V first came out, I cringed at the contrasting vents. Now the car to me seems almost emasculated without them. The contrasting vents make the car look a bit mean, and that's what I want for my V12V. A greater focus on refinement and elegance is more appropriate for the DB9 IMO.

Congratulations! Now just restore the bonnet vents to the original carbon fiber finish and the car will be perfect!

Nope, I like it as it is, looks very classy now.

The carbon vents look great on the dark cars but the paler colours suit the colour coding.

All personal opinion isn't it?
