Brooklands/Trinity Engineering meet

a fan of tyre kicking meets, drives out are far more interesting
True... but when you have over 30 cars, a big drive is not really an option! As discussed, if that was going to happen we'd need much smaller groups (4-6), a leader and a destination in mind. Would take organisation well beyond me as I have little to no local knowledge! Goodwood would be a nice plave to arrive at one day as well, just turn up to the circuit and park - if nothing is on that day I can probably get us into the paddock to park (GRRC member as well). If not, well there's plenty of space inside!

I've been on quite a fair few PH drives/tunnel runs and all sorts of other ones now including arranging one of my own so I'd be more than happy to help with that side of things if we do another - handing out route maps/running the lead/directions and arranging the various stop points.Goodwood would be a nice plave to arrive at one day as well, just turn up to the circuit and park - if nothing is on that day I can probably get us into the paddock to park (GRRC member as well). To keep things together you need the pace car to set a fairly casual rate and be in regular contact with the car at the back but 30 cars together shouldn't be too much bother if arranged and everybody has the route.

Anywhere north of Islington... there be dragons...
Wait, you can go north of Islington? Do you have to take something to fend off the polar bears?- Steve

I helped organise the annual meets with the S2000 guys, it was ALWAYS over 70 cars we just split it in to groups of 10. Just needs alot more thought and effort.Goodwood would be a nice plave to arrive at one day as well, just turn up to the circuit and park - if nothing is on that day I can probably get us into the paddock to park (GRRC member as well). having heard the top speed achieved by some of the lead cars I now know why as the last car in group it took us so long to catch up the main group.
best that what happened on tour stays on tour though!
personally liked the informality of yesterdays meet. The problem with driving out in groups down South is trying to keep everyone together, even groups of 5 would get separated around here.
easier oop north as less people around, just need to dodge the dragons!

I agree with both the sentiments... I called Brooklands and we all turned up, that was as tough as this one got.
Shmee and Mikeyk, any help would be much appreciated by the whole forum I think!
Be very careful about involving Mr K. le Yeti.Shmee and Mikeyk, any help would be much appreciated by the whole forum I think!
His routes are sent via email for you to download to your sat nav and to view on google maps.
Very impressive military precision, but not for the faint-hearted

We can download itinery files into the sat nav? How? Do you need the new Garmin unit for that or can the older Volvo system do it too?Very impressive military precision, but not for the faint-hearted

I have only seen it done to the TomTom unfortunately.
Edit - no reason therefore why it cannot be done to the new Garmins
Oh, I don't have either of those. Not that it really matters, I think I've used the sat nav about 4 times in total. I prefer the look of the dash with the screen tucked away Edit - no reason therefore why it cannot be done to the new Garmins

Though ITN Conv will convert them to just about any format that can be uploaded to suitable Sat Navs

On the theme of venues, one to throw into the pot. There are a number of Goodwood Breakfast meetings throughout the year and on the 6th May this year it's the Supercar Sunday meet. I go every year and there is always a distinct lack of Aston's either old or new.
That's the weekend before my birthday. we just might have to do that if we don't do the Rioja tour. Goodwood is right on my doorstep too.JohnG1 said:
I cannot imagine that anyone drove at more than NSL.
I certainly didn't speed. That's not legal.6th of May I am actually free so will aim for the Goodwood meet, it will be a rare beginning of month morning that I am off work.
The problem there is that when 30 Astons turn up, they'll let the first 2 in and the rest will be off to park with the Clios and Saxos in the overflow!

Given that "we know" that AML read this then it's reasonable to assume that other folks do...
Can a forum post really be enough evidence to get you done for speeding? I cannot imagine that anyone drove at more than NSL.

I speed all the time, I can't see anyone proving it just because I posted it on a forum.

They don't need to prove it...... You've just admitted it you Charlie....I speed all the time, I can't see anyone proving it just because I posted it on a forum.
Now what would happen, if say your were unfortunate enough to have an accident, and hurt someone??
Police officer..... now we're you speeding George...??
No officer.. Never speed... It's against my nature... I always drive below the limit...
PO..... Well we've just done a google search, and found this post on the Internet, so sorry, we don't believe you....
