Unfortunately, missed out on the meet and tunnel run yesterday as I was working night shifts.

However, looking forward to the next meet!!

Now what would happen, if say your were unfortunate enough to have an accident, and hurt someone??

Police officer..... now we're you speeding George...??
No officer.. Never speed... It's against my nature... I always drive below the limit...
PO..... Well we've just done a google search, and found this post on the Internet, so sorry, we don't believe you.... smile
That is EXACTLY how it happens. Seriously. No you won't get done just for posting that you speed, but it can and will be used against you if they need evidence. It really isn't hard to find either.

That's the weekend before my birthday. we just might have to do that if we don't do the Rioja tour. Goodwood is right on my doorstep too.
If you are thinking about the Rioja tour, then you need to book it quickly. The last time that I spoke to Jasper (a month ago) 15 cars were booked. There are a maximum of 20 places, so it might be already fully booked.

It really looks like an awesome holiday.

hehe Yeah thanks for that.

I'm sure I will be fine, I would bet 99.9% of people on here have exceeded the limit at some point smile

All Aston Martins are recording your speed, your breaking / steering techniques, throttle control, seatbelt position, inter alia.

All this data is available to law enforcement agencies in the event of an accident. Why on earth would they google it ??

Not sure why Georgeous is receiving special treatment on this point smile

your breaking smile
Is this something to do with the upcoming independence referendum..?

Don;t think Prince G is being singled out, I just wouldn't confirm I broke the law on a public forum. I didn't quote him either wink

Didn't know the Aston ECU captured that much data...

It's not admissable evidence my blue friend. The data collection device is not certified by the body that has to certify to court standards (the same body that certifies scameras).

So while it may indicate >NSL it cannot be used in a prosecution...

Neither did I. How much data can it hold, and for what length of time? I presume it's only really useful if you have an accident and then the police can determine what speed you were really going. Surely they aren't allowed to just check your ECU to see if you have been speeding? How does it know where you have done it too? Could have been on a track day / private land.

It captures EVERYTHING. I have seen the output on a laptop. Every variable you can think of is in there. It's a nifty system. I cannot remember how much of the capture is stored and how much storage space is used. I have a dim memory that certain error codes are stored until cleared(like if you over rev by a redline downshift from 6th to 2nd) and that the last X minutes are stored.

The difference being, that 99.9% aren't daft enough to brag about it on a public Internet forum.....smile

George, it's not what happens in reallity that can get you into bother, it's the perception of others....

Look at this scenario...... A young fella (ie you) in a very expensive, fast flashy car...... The automatic assumption is, he's young he has a fast car, therefore 2+2 = 5. He must have been driving fast

Now you, in a Nissan Micra would lead to a completely different assumption....

It's all about 3rd party perception...... I know of a case where a guy on a motorbike, was riding like a complete loon, overtaking everything in sight and going very fast..... 5 miles down the road, he's doing 30 through a village and gets knocked off..... NOT HIS FAULT.....

Police arrive, and speak to people on the scene, people he'd overtaken minutes earlier at warp speed....end result he's prosecuted for driving without due care........ So the assumption was that he was speeding when he passed the other motorists.... Therefore 2+2 = 5 HE must have been speeding through the village....

All I'm saying is be careful how you drive, be carfule of how others perceive you on the road, and be careful of what you say...smile

It's OLD FART advice?..?. But it's good advice.... Up to you what you do with itsmilesmile

I have never seen the output from the ECU but your Manual states explicitly what is stored and who has access to it. Why law enforcement agencies have access to it, but then it is inadmissable in a court of law...I have no idea.

I drive 7.5t wagons when I need to (holiday cover for my drivers) and I know what it's like to have a spy in the cab. I also know that these tachos need calibrating every few years to re-affirm their accuracy smile

Indeed - and that's why the ECU output is inadmissable. How do you guarantee integrity of data? With a tacho you have a paper disk. On an ECU you have zeroes and ones in memory. So it's trivial to falsify...

I'm not bragging, just being honest. I would be just completely lieing if I said I didn't do 80(ish) on the motorway, or park illegally from time to time.

You do have a valid point though, and it is good advice. I will keep any potentially incriminating driving habits of mine off the internet from now on smile

Funny how the wide angle on this pic makes the Vantages (especially those toward the left) look like they have bonnets as long as the Dodge Viper's. smile
