don't like those comments......sort of thing a poor person or Ford Sierra owner would say.....As is well known on this forum I don't like poor people and I don't like Ford Sierra's......suggest in future you add a smiley face like this smile and then we will know your being light hearted smile

To the OP.......last time i was pulled over (about 5 years ago) the officer called me son.....to which I explained to him he could refer to me as "sir" or "Mr Gould" in saying that I have a great admiration for the police....99% of them do a difficult job well

I have always had whatever attitude I have given, given straight back. Never been treated anything but fairly, although speeding in the Marcos on the motorway, I was doing no more than keeping up with traffic amnd was indeed singled out! However, I was speeding and accepted the consequences of that.

Was given a talking to in the DB7 due to an illegal front number plate, he initially started quite aggressively but when he realised he was getting no trouble and nothing but courtesy from me, he soon changed. Waved me on my way after a chat about horsepower Vs running costs!

I remember you posting the first time round Shmee, think you either got a bad one, or like the two posters above, someone seething with jealously who just couldn't hold it togther professionally. If you reported them, it will definitely have been recorded and a word had.

I've been pulled over a handful of times and, rightly or wrongly, have generally felt it was due to age/car not reconciling in the mind of the officer. I don't really have a problem with this so long as the officer is courteous as I always would be.

What I do find frustrating is the lame excuses. An air freshener??? I was pulled over at 2am in the local village a few years ago after an 18 hour day at work; the reason offered was that the characters on my number plate were too close together for the number plate recognition software to recognise. Now I just wanted to get to bed as I was up again in 3.5 hours and, whilst polite, explained that I didn't buy that and we should check whilst both sat in his car. He declined and that 'challenge' did me no favours... I would normally have managed it differently but I was tired and grumpy.

Like a few others, I find the police are typically courteous. You'll always find exceptions, but that's true in any walk of life.

Ps. ^^^ How odd to presume the source of someone's wealth. And what on earth does it matter???

the usual excuse is "cars matching this description have been stolen in the area" then they cuff you and put you in the back of the car until they see everything has checked out, when finally they see there's nothing here that will get them an easy booking they let you go without even so much as an apology, leaving you standing there with sore wrists.

their all s, every last one of em imo

Completely agree, I have old friends who are now police officers and they are hard working good people.

This is my sentiment too - I'd much rather he'd just been reasonable and said to me "you look quite young to be driving a car like this so I hope you don't mind if I check your paperwork etc".

Strange how people who speak to Police Officers courteously are treated politely themselves and others who start from the premise that they are all idiots are treated robustly.

I wonder whether there could be some connection here... smile

I've never had a problem with being stopped.

i used to be polite.. but getting pulled over constantly kind of wears your courteousness away.

now i just tell them to book me for something or let me go cause i have better things to do than be harassed.

my record is being pulled 8 times in 5 days. since then i stopped being polite because it got me nowhere. and no, there was nothing they could book me for because i had done nothing wrong and the car was completely legal in every respect. they're just s.

Well I'm gonna go against the grain here, and say, I'm gad the police are pulling up cars that have all sorts of crap hanging from mirrors, or stuck in windowssmile

These things can restrict vision, and cause blinds spots.... As a biker.... Who thinks most car drivers are blind for 99% of the time, the removal of any other potential reduced vision devices, has to be a good thing....

I refer you to my previous statement.

You sound like you have a massive chip on your shoulder, and start insulting people on how they funded their cars, a subject on which you clearly know sweet fk all about.

Also what the fk does it have to do with you if someone else bought their cars?

i didnt do anything wrong,

got blue lighted after being followed for about 5 mins, so pulled over straight away as i knew it was coming,

then they both come screeching round in-front of me cutting me off even though i was already stoped, they proceeded to jump out getting all excited hitting my windows with their sticks,

i get out asking WTF

they then cuff me and put me in the back of their car.

once everything checks out on their radio they let me go...

Agreed.

Suppose it's better to have one than not.

Am I the only one that thinks Shmee's retort belies a sophistication way beyond his tender years ??

Furthermore, what the heck are you 3 doing up at that time on PH ?? No girl/boyfriends on the horizon etc ??

BTW, the Police have let me off with both of my last 2 speeding episodes, simply by me acknowledging that I was wrong and that I would abide by any decision they made without contention. Admittedly, I was in the Beamer smile
