BTW, the Police have let me off with both of my last 2 speeding episodes, simply by me acknowledging that I was wrong and that I would abide by any decision they made without contention. Admittedly, I was in the Beamer smile
Really? I might have to try that one. Already done the speed awareness course twice, if I get caught again in the next 3 years then it will be points frown

I thought you got points if you got caught after doing the speed awareness course? I didn't realise you could do it twice sonar

Arrrr now that makes sense...... you will need to keep a good lookout for Mr cop as points are a real pain... or an investment in a bond style rotating number plate could always come in handy.... now thast an idea.

Paranoia chap... If I'd been pulled over 8 times in 5 days I'd be seriously hacked off as well! I'd ask for a meeting with the Chief Constable. And be taking the names and numbers if every plod who pulls you.

If you're playing your part and being courteous, there is no excuse... Unless you've got previous form of course smile

Yes, I'd be fairly furious if I were pulled 8 times in 5 days.

Yeti, what's the difference between precious form or previous form. Is one worth more points than the other ??

If these sort of phrases are typical of the way you carry yourself, I'm not surprised you're running into hassle.

You might think there's absolutely no reason they pulled you, but are you being honest with yourself?

When I'd just passed my test, I used to drive my mates to clubs etc for a short while (driving was more novel than getting pissed). Regularly got pulled, but

- it was always very late at night.
- car full of young blokes/girls.
- not always driving perfectly within the speed limit.
- car that was perhaps a little on the loud side

Would be easy to say I was doing nowt wrong - I pretty much always wasn't (save for the odd mph). But it was also easy to see why I was being pulled. No point getting antsy about it.

Getting a dose of attitude in front of cops is always counter-productive. Remain perfectly polite, and if you genuinely think you are doing nothing wrong or even remotely suspicious (look at it from their point of view) then make a note of their number (if it's not visible, ask them for it. But it should be) and report them. Then follow up (again politely) with the officer in charge until you get a response.

I find it a little hard to believe that the "8x in 5 days" will all have been at normal times of day, in decent areas when driving perfectly within the law...

all very interesting. Note we don't have to display a front plate on any farm tractor, digger, self propelled machine.

Not sure whether that was iPhone trickery or simply the fact the two keys are next to each other. But I rather like the thought of having 'precious' form.

Being an affectedly dainty or an overrefined villain has the hallmarks of an Aston driver.

Its was last year, wilst i was still running my leaflet distribution business.

I had a 100,000 campaign todo in cannock and 6 staff putting them out.

I would be patroling checking on their work whilst tracking their progress via gps and re-supplying them with leaflets as needed.

This would be between 6am and 6pm in residential areas.

I also had signwriting all over the car to make it clear what i was upto.

Im just glad they dont all have guns over here like in the states

Maybe the officer just wanted to get that air freshener out of the car. Although it's not illegal to use an air freshener in an Aston Martin, maybe it should be! smile

On a more serious note, in my experience if you are pleasant and compliant with an officer who pulls you over, he will be pleasant back to you. I have been let off with a warning on many occasions, and have had the officer write down a lower speed on several speeding tickets to reduce the fee that I will have to pay. I think so often they deal with angry people or the dregs of society that they find it refreshing to deal with someone who doesn't act like an ass.

Pulled twice last year and with one recorded speed of 92 in a national speed limit. Each time not even a bking and on my way feeling rather lucky.

The 92mph recorded speed was by North Wales finest. Not exactly a service known for their tolerance of excessive speed.

Treat people as you would like to be treated has always been one of my mantra's.....

Best way to avoid leaflets...

Have a gate with a Really fiddly latch that will take more than a moment to open.

Have a looong path to your front door

Make sure theres no possible way to "shortcut" accross your property

And finally have your letterbox in a very non obvious place.

All these elements combined make distributors skip your house and go next door instead.

Polite notices dont work because the same distributor will never visit twice, so theres no comeback to him, hes also not paid enough to genuinely care if theres comeback or not smile

Distributors normally have 1000 to do in a day, so they budget about 10-15 secs to get the leaflet posted and back to the gate. if it looks like it will take longer... they wont bother!

don't like those comments......sort of thing a poor person or Ford Sierra owner would say.....As is well known on this forum I don't like poor people and I don't like Ford Sierra's......suggest in future you add a smiley face like this smile and then we will know your being light hearted smile

To the OP.......last time i was pulled over (about 5 years ago) the officer called me son.....to which I explained to him he could refer to me as "sir" or "Mr Gould" in saying that I have a great admiration for the police....99% of them do a difficult job well
my sierra got crashed into by a prick in a golf r32 who didnt have insurance and ran off from the scene.

police did nothing helpful
He did you a favour...... smile
