been asked by a friend if i could drop him off at the church on his wedding day.
this got me thinking that there could be a market for this service {just dropping off the groom and a few photos} i would drive.
two or three weddings a year could help pay the bills
but what could be the pitfalls and what would you charge {db7 vantage}
im in staffordshire area
anyone else doing this

I wondered about this.... But then I would probably scare said groom to the point of soiling himself, not a good look down the isle.. hehe

Definatley a viable money making option though!!! Keep it reasonable and I am almost certain there will be some takers, have a chat with some wedding planners or bridal shops etc.. Hoteliers?????

Dragons den moment...

don't forget the ' high school' proms season as well, ferrying the rich kids around. George H is the forums resident expert on them.

That's true unless you were paid.....then your providing a commercial service and it's a venture into trade ........don't bother

You'd just get the appropriate insurance! Would need to be a ragtop and you may as well get the i6 auto and save some money if it's purely commercial.

Probably make more money with a Bentley Mulsanne/8 ferrying the bride...

In all honesty, there is probably a reasonable market - but the cost of insurance as well as marketing to a suitable degree to get the cost / profit ratio right may make it more trouble than it's worth. I am expecting to be ferrying Nieces to dances and friends to special events - but that's part of the Aston ownership experience / obligation wink

I had 3 to do in my V8V last year, first one i spent 80 0n a valet plus the drive and waiting for photos etc took 4 hours of my time,i paid for the groom, best man and myself a drink £18, he gave me £20 for doing it! 2nd time i cleaned the car myself, lucky cos he cancelled night before wedding, 3rd time groom told me my car would have its own photo shoot which would cost 150 and he would give to me as gift,He never gave them to me. I have one to do this year which he wants to pay me 100 but i'm going to do it for free so there be no dissapointment.

Sod all that.... £125-00 per hour, I have just booked a RR Phantom for a very special night for 12 hours and thats what the rate is.... biggrin

So for an Aston Martin should be somewhere close to that figure...

first off if i did it i would get the right insurance.
i looked what others are charging and £350 seems a average figure.
but i recon £250 {depending on milage} seems about a good figure if i keep it local and do say three / four a year
will help with the running costs
not sure where to advertise as i dont want to do it all the time jus a few a year

What the hell is the point in doing 3 or 4 a year? It's an extra £750-£1000. Or basicly an extra £60-£80 a month (minus the insurance and your time of course).

Why would anyone go to the effort for that? I could understand it if it was circa. £5k+ per annum, but <£1k?!

Agree with gorgeous G......waste of time.....I bet you appropriate insurance will be another £500 ....suggest if the OP needs to make some extra money he gets a paper round or sells Avon products smile

A friend of our asked us to drop the bride off at her wedding a couple of years ago... it was her dream to be dropped off in an Aston. So I obliged, it was great to help someone’s dream come true.... especially when we get to live the dream every day....... the car that isbiggrin

I've done 2 or 3 weddings and proms, purely for friends (sorry Georgeous) and it's always been a pleasure to see the faces of the "recipients".

I've always been happy with just a nice bottle of claret as appreciation.

IMHO anything along the commercial lines is too much of a hassle. frown

Totally agree........that sounds like a bit of fun but not to do it on a commercial basis as the OP suggests......that sounds a bit desperate !

to be fair the friend who has asked runs a wedding car hire company and its his sugestion says he could get bookings all the time for it , strangly never been interested in any of the 911 ive had

i did a few weddings a few years ago in our 1932 rolls royce and the insurance was an extra £50 for up to 6 weddings {hence the limit i put on events and not wanting to cut into my life to much} but gave it up as i worried to much if the car packed up i would ruin someones day

so 5 weddings 250/300 each thought it was easy money just to drop a groom of at his wedding 2/3 hours max

depending on insurance etc
