Hi,

1270

I bought it from HR Owen Cheltenham before it got listed. I expressed an interest in a V12V and when this one came up I got a call.

First time it's been sold since new. Originally supplied by Cambridge.

Wayne
Hi Wayne, I've sent you an email!

Yours is the 1147th built from 1199 cars and there's a further 31 UK cars after yours, but only 3 more UK CB cars.

Cypriot - ouch! The carbon fibre front spoiler is a one piece £3000 pound item. Mine has never been in a multi storey. Too risky. Some speed bumps are negotiated carefully but I’ve turned around a few times too to avoid!
There is a newer (plastic?) spoiler I believe but I wouldn’t want to risk the CF item if it’s scrape free.

Hi Dave, thanks for your post, yes I picked this one up for the first time last May when AM Newcastle we’re selling it.
Any further info relating to previous reg plates, owners etc if you have anything for the notes section would be great!

Hello from Sweden,

I just bought a V12 Vantage with VIN ending at 1370 MY 2013 in Germany. It is a Centenary
Edition ? I had a V8 Vantage before and always wanted a V12 so last week I went to Germay to buy a nice V12S MY 16. I saw this beautiful car at the dealer and could not resist it so i bought this one instead and drove it back to Sweden. Is this a very late production of the Vantage ?

Thank you all for a very nice and informative forum.

Best Regards
Pär
Hello Pär, thanks for your post, and congrats on this special purchase. Is this the car AM Kronberg were selling....number 98 of 100 as shown on the sill plate?

AM produced 100 Centenary cars during 2013, three of which were V12V's. The vins are 1370 (no.98), 1371 (no.99) and 1372 (no.100). All Meteorite silver cars to German spec.

You are indeed correct, one of the very last V12V 6-speed manuals. 1370 is actually the 4th last car, there only being vin 1376 after these 3 centenary cars, and this one went to Peru in S.America.

The only info i'm missing on 1370 for the Register is the engine number...AM10 ????? - if you could help with this, that would be great!

So many congrats again, hope this one will be a keeper for you biggrin

Any idea what the registration dates for the Magma Red cars are? I know mine was June 2009 (KX09 LHK) and the Car magazine review car (KX09 GXF) must have been May 2009 so both early enough to be the 2009 Salon Prive show car?

It 'could' have been mine which would be quite cool...

Just trying to find a little background on my KX reg motor!
Well done on owning 1 of 7 UK magma red V12V's. Yours is the 3rd UK car. The reg dates I have are:-

01/04/09 - 008 (GXF) - info - Car mag Jan 09; Octane mag Jan 09; Car mag Jun 09; Top Gear BBC2 Aug 09; AutoExpress Sept 09. For sale at Lancaster Reading, January 2012.

01/04/09 - 012 (GXA) - AM development car, scrapped during 2012.

12/06/09 - 021 (LHK) - For sale at AM Grange Welwyn @ 24450m, September 2013. For sale at Top 555 Ltd @ 29000m, May 2015. Did you buy it from Top 555?

Nov '09 - 286 & 304
Feb '10 - 344
Mar '10 - 333

I would've thought the "Show car" would be 008.

Hope you find the above useful smile

Thanks for the pictures chaps, and the engine numbers. It’s nice to complete a record on the Register.
Jase - yes there’s around 10 or so V12Vs showing as unknown engine numbers, even on a list I was provided with. How did you get your engine number in the end?

The Register has 832 records currently so only need to find the remaining 368!

And this week pickup up another U.K. car, one owner from new so only just on the market. Just need another 47 U.K. car now from 380ish cars.

HAHA! Way to go Mike......they’re in an awkward position to see too.

Surprisingly, I’ve found some odd anomalies and omissions within Gaydon’s records when compiling this Register which my contact is trying to resolve or improve on lol

Excellent choice Lee, Magma is a fantastic cherry red colour that really suits the car. Really don’t know why more people didn’t spec this colour.
Plus the interior is just fab on this car! thumbup

1 of 6 they say, was the scrapped one the 7th?
Hi Jase. S00012 was a “Product Development” car and as such I’ve learned that some of these are mules for lots of things and when their use has finished they are disposed of. It’s not the intention of A! To ever retail these, so quite likely the official retail Magma red cars will be 6 not 7.

So do we know what the last chassis number is of the last original V12. I guess a 2013 regd car?
Yes, the last numbered V12V manual 6sp is S01376 and was delivered new to Peru! The last cars were produced mid-2013.

There was a picture online this week of a V600 I think at the factory. This is S03183, showing as a Vantage AMR V12 with AM28 engine and 7sp Manual box.
I also have details of S03199 but this is an AMR V12 auto, AM28 engine and 7sp auto box.

Did every Vantage Special Edition model, use an S chassis number prefix (e.g. N430 and GT12)?
I can confirm the GT12 chassis end S62xxx. I have 12 vins between 2229 and 2491 suggesting they’ve used the same last four digit series for all the V12 Vantages, original, S, roadsters, zagatos, etc

Hi Leo, I think you contacted me via email as I have your details on the Register. Since then I’ve expanded the Register to include steering wheel type so if you could confirm if it’s lesther or alcantara please?
I also keep a photo library but don’t have any pics of 1114. Could you please send me some or post up?
Btw yours is the 346th from 388 UK cars and the 1098th out of 1200 built!

You are Mr V12V, Phil, so I would like you to make the choice.

Should the V12V to be regarded as a Special Edition and therefore included with all the others, on my Vantage Limited Edition and Special Edition table?
Haha, thanks Jon!
And that’s not an easy decision to be made, especially as it’s always nice to have a limited edition car. However, upon reflection, the decision is easy, and here’s why (in my opinion of course)......
The standard V12V manual 6sp cars were marketed to be limited to 1,000 cars with no US cars planned at that time. During production it was decided to supply to the US (the first official US car is S00483 btw). There were 200 US/Canadian cars built, so 1,200 in total.
But these 1,200 cars in themselves aren’t a Special Edition. This falls to the cars that were marketed within the V12V range of 1,200 cars as “Special”. So the Carbon Black Edition cars and the later US* run of 40 cars are Special Edition, but within a limited run of cars.
The latter S cars with 6sp autos were not marketed as limited and in reality do not number many more cars than the 6sp manuals!
So, to recap, it all depends Jon how you are to name your table of cars. I think you need to define/split out what’s a limited run of cars and what are Special Editions.
Certainly within the whole SX0001 to SX3xxx (X denotes a changing digit), I’d define as follows:-
LIMITED
6sp manual coupe (no number plaque)
6sp manual roadster
Zagato
GT8
GT12

SPECIAL EDITION
Carbon Black Edition (no number plaque)
*US 40 Edition (only 30 went to US, the other 10 to Japan/Australia)
Centenary Edition (3 cars)
Red Bull Racing?
AMR
V600
Any other run out model Editions....

Not to be included
V12VS coupe/roadster
7sp manual

There you go....easy!

The V12 Vantage S was launched with a 7 speed automated manual gearbox not a 6 speed auto Phil! Just saying.
Great work you're doing, BTW.
I'd be interested to have the final V12VS production numbers, be they SportshiftIII or stickshift manual, coupé or roadster.
Keep up the good work! smile
Edited to say Kroymans Aston Martin where I bought mine mentioned 1,196 manual V12 Vantage produced.
Do you think the correct number is 1,200?

Edited by CSK1 on Sunday 26th August 08:45
The total number of V12 Vantage S coupe and roadsters (not including AMRs) is 1651
Thanks Olivier, yes of course the S is 7sp, was just a typo at 02.30 in the morning sleep
I made a decision quite early on for the Register to be only the 1000, then ended up 1200, 6sp manuals as they were limited in numbers and when the S came out there was no limit to numbers.
Now that I know there’s 1651 (cheers Starlight, always wondered that), I’m glad I never started!
I’ve been compiling the Register for nearly 8 years now and I’ve found 841 of the 1200, so have just completed 70%!!
Regarding the 1196v1200 debate, I can categorically say that it’s 1200 as the numbers have been fully reconciled up to the last 6sp Manual vin 1376 and confirmed by a contact at the factory. This reconciliation only happened this year and was a thorn in my side until then as I had certain vins I didn’t know if they were coupes, roadsters or Zagato.
The only mystery is with S00007 as no one will confirm or deny its existence!! I was told by some that this vin was missed out leaving 1199 cars, but my theory is that a confidentiality clause has been put in place on this one and it belongs to James Bond himself. readit
