Before everyone tears out their eyes, casts their first born into the sea and torches their Linn 950 systems... I honk it's perfectly fine!

Just how loud singly want a stereo to be? It's just a distraction! I have a Massive Attack CD that gets played sometimes, the bass makes the whole car resonate, it's incredible. I just have no idea what people want from a stereo, I can hear it clearly and crisply at speed with the roof off... So I'm happy.

I have NAD seperates with Mission speakers at home so I'm not coming from an Aiwa mini hi-fi. It's a car stereo FFS smile
I could never get mine to sound 'crisp' or 'clear'. It was either just massive, bloated bass, or just a bunch of highs. Midrange was conspicuously absent...the most important part. And making the whole car 'resonate' is just the opposite of good bass, isn't it?

I tried your settings. If nothing else, they really made my broken speaker buzz and rattle nicely, so I'll be using those settings to demonstrate my problem to the dealer smile

Can some one please tell me how to get "surround" ON as mine is set to OFF and nothing I press or twizzle will switch it to on!

MY09 4.7 Premium sound.

I press the right hand top button with the note on it for 2 seconds, and get all the bass>treble>fader etc etc then you get to "surround off" and nothing works!

Also, is my system bust? If I put the fader all the way to the rear speakers, the sound it terrible! Worse than my £10 bedside radio!! Is that normal or are the speakers both blown??

Cheers,
GN

You have to press the menu putton, then choose CD (or USB or whatever) settings, then Audio Settings and you can turn it on from in there. You can't get to it from the knob with the note on it.

It's normal that it sounds crap when you put the fader to the back - there are no tweeters there.

You can get to it through that note button, it's the last one in the sequence starting >treble > bass > fader > etc etc lastly it says > surround > and says "off" but there is no way to change it to "on"

Just seems a little odd to have it there in there but not actually be able to change it. I've not managed to find a way of turning it on in the menu either. rolleyes

Might have to break the number one rule of male-ness and read the manual. eek

IIRC it only appears via the "note" button if you have a suitable source selected ie USB, Ipod & CD with something there for it to play.

Yes, if it's on you can adjust it through the note knob. If it's not on then you can't.

Each type of input can have its own settings so you have to do it for all the ones you use: CD, usb; ipod, radio.

Right, this is how you turn it on:

Select Pro Logic or 3 channel.

I think it sounds better off.

Oh I see. So maybe you can't have surround on for FM radio then. That's all I've listened to so far.

Great, thanks for that Bob.

Yes, I should have mentioned: no surround in radio mode.
