They are fine if all goes well.

They sent me one tyre in the wrong size (from a set of 4).

It was the devil's work to get them to sort it.

Jokers.
I think that's a pretty standard problem with any site/company/mail order when things get slightly complicated and it's mega unfortunate when it happens.
I think it was when they tried to convince me that a tyre in completely the wrong size would be okay that I lost my sense of humour with them... smile

Agreed that's not exactly sensible!

I use Event Tyres who supply and then fit for you, either on your drive or at work hence less faffing about finding someone to fit tyres you bought elsewhere:

http://www.event-tyres.co.uk/

Usually very competitive on price, especially as a quick Google usually throws up a discount code to use to get some money off.

Often used them in the past but they don't come this far South frown

All the usual places can't seem to touch them!
Anyone used them of come across them?
I got my Pirelly winter tyres for the Aston and Falken winter tyres for wife's Fiat500. Best prices I found, fast delivery no problems. Would use them again.
Thanks Martyn
Full set ordered £830 bargain!

Price aside, what tyres offer the best grip / longevity combination?
That's bit of a contradiction when it comes to tyres - grippy tyres generally don't last that long (that's where the grip comes from) and harder, longer lasting tyres don't tend to be very grippy!

Anyway, the best tyres on the market at the moment are the Michelin Pilot Supersports. There are plenty and plenty of previous threads on the subject. I've got a set and wouldn't use anything else.

Have just had some 275/35y19 Kumho tyres slapped on the rear of my 4.7. Only done a hundred miles but there seems to be less noise plus more stable in the wet compared with my old bridgestones potenza, the Kumho also have an interesting tread pattern. All fitted by JRS, woodcote, Berks, £302 for the pair. Was put off the idea of the Mitch sport pilots, only 4mm of tread!!!

You're confusing Pilot Sport Cups with Pilot Supersports. The Cups have 5mm, the Supersports have the usual 8mm.

Good luck with the Kuhmos. Like we said in your other thread, you get a lot for your money with Kuhmos. But I'm very happy to pay the little bit extra for the PSS.

yes
I've used K's on other cars but think the Aston deserves the PSS's

I've luckily had the opportunity to play with lots of various vehicles and related tyres with interesting states of wear in my law enforcement role. Please do not get sucked in by all the spin and hype regarding tyre branding. Quality driving will always surpass high end tyres when trying to keep you car on the road when pushing the envelope :-) . early days for the UK's yet but looking very hopeful so far but they do appear to exceed the quality of the bridgestones! :-) :-) :-) :-)

The Potenza RE050 design is now over 10 years old so stuff like the PSS's and Kumhos have eclipsed them IME

Looking at new boots for my V8 Roadster, any comments about slightly wider profile tyres on standard rims? I seem to recall someone on one of the threads did this and in addition to road holding offered "rim" protection.....

The >MY12.25 tyres are slight wider but on wider alloys, the ones I've quoted above are the next size up that fit those alloys plus the PSS have an extra "rim protector" the Potenza's don't

That's great - thanks Phil.

At half the price of the SS, I am happy to trade a little dry grip.
Personally, I like to be able to get things moving without having the car on the ragged edge, if I am having a bit of fun.
At £107 a pop, I won't be worrying too much about wearing them out either!

Cheers - Simon

Good shout Simon, I see tyreleader are doing them for £107 :-)

However when I looked at their web site they did have some poor recommendations for tyre fitters near me. I went to a long established local firm because you can do a lot of damage to the tyre sensors if you don't know how to strip out the old tyre, my guys did take timer and care fitting the two tyres :-) :-) :-)

Will be interesting how long they last :-) :-) :-) :-)

Very impressed with Oponeo
They delivered 3 tyres 3 days after I ordered them (my fav local specialist said the rears were on back order expected in late July frown )
I queried why only three on Friday, it turns out the rears are too wide to be sent in pairs so they are sent individually.
Had a call from the this morning to say the 4th is in transit, as the phone went down the courier turned up!
Excellent work.
